The Dirtbags host the University of Michigan for a three-game series that the Port of Long Beach presents.
Friday's game is CSULB Staff & Faculty Night and begins at 6 p.m. Matt Brown and Cody Yates have the call on ESPN+.
Saturday is Dirtbags Trivia Night; the first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
Sunday's game is Bark in the Park II and begins at 1 p.m.
On Monday, LBSU hosts Tulane. Brown and Yates return on ESPN+ beginning at 6 p.m.
SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
After opening the season 4-0 at the Puerto Rico Challenge, Michigan dropped three games at the College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas, including an 8-6 decision to No. 5 Arkansas.
Despite the losses, Michigan still received votes in the NCBWA Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll.
Jonathan Kim is the team's leading hitter at .419. Preseason All-American Mitch Volt is hitting .370 and has a club-high three home runs and nine RBI.
Dylan Vigue is Friday's probable starter for the Wolverines. Vigue is 0-0 with a 2.53 ERA. He has struck out six and walked eight in 10.2 innings.
Michigan is expected to start Kurt Barr on Saturday. Barr has not given up an earned run in eight innings over two starts. He has struck out 12 and walked six.
Sunday's finale should see Gavin DeVought throw for Michigan. DeVooght is 2-1, starting twice in three appearances. He has struck out 12 in 9.2 innings on his way to a 2.79 ERA.
For the second year in a row, LBSU and Michigan have played a three-game series. The Wolverines lead the all-time series 4-3.Â
SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE
Tulane is 7-1 after defeating Nicholls State Tuesday night 13-3. Tulane began the week receiving votes in the NCBWA Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll.
The Green Wave is at Pepperdine over the weekend before coming to Long Beach.
Connor Rasmussen is hitting a team-high .440 with six RBI. Matthias Haas is hitting .435 with one home run and a club-best 10 RBI.
A probable starter has not been determined for Tulane.
ASHWORTH HOMERS
Kyle Ashworth hit a three-run home run and a grand slam to drive in seven runs as Long Beach State defeated Seattle U 15-7 in the third game of the Tony Gwynn Legacy on Feb. 23.
His three-run homer cut the SU lead to 6-4 before his grand slam put the Dirtbags into the lead for the first time in the game. Ashworth went 3-for-6 in the game.
He is currently hitting .313 and is second on the team in RBI with 10. Ashworth has a team-high .500 on-base percentage and is second in slugging (.577).
