A Kyle Ashworth sacrifice bunt plated Toomey for the fourth run.
Mitch Voit's one-out double to the left-center gap drove in Benjamin Casillas to get the Wolverines on the board.
Matt Spear led off the fourth for Michigan with a walk. He stole second and advanced to third on a LBSU error. Spear ran on Robert Hamchuk's grounder to third. Lina fielded the ball cleanly and threw home for the second out. AJ Rausch flew out to right to end the inning.
The Dirtbags scored twice without a hit in the fifth. DeVooght hit Alex Champagne to get the inning underway. He walked Armando Briseno before it appeared DeVooght hit Lina for a third time as he attempted to bunt. The Wolverines' appeal to first was successful, making the count 2-1. Lina got the sacrifice down on the next pitch to advance the runners. Charpiot's sac fly to right scored Champagne, and Briseno took third. Briseno scored on a DeVooght wild pitch to make it 6-1.
Kellan Montgomery walked Cade Ladehoff to begin the Michigan sixth before striking out Spear. His seventh strikeout marked the end of Montgomery's stint as Albert Roblez entered in relief. Ladehoff advanced to second on Roblez's failed pickoff attempt that went into foul territory. Cole Caruso doubled down the left field line to score Ladehoff. Roblez struck out Hamchu. Rausch hit a grounder to Cardena at second. He fielded the ball on his back and threw it onto first for the final out.
Roblez walked Casilas to start the seventh. Kim reached on an opposite-field infield single to third. With runners on first and second, Voit struck out. Roblez struck out Jeter Ybarra on three consecutive pitches. Roblez also struck out Ladehoff on three pitches to get the Dirtbags out of the inning.
Roblez walked Spear to begin the eighth. He moved to second when Roblez failed on a pickoff attempt. Roblez bounced back to strike out Caruso. Roblez hit pinch-hitter Colby Turner. Rausch fouled out to Ortega, the LBSU catcher, for the second out. Down 1-2 in the count, Castillas' opposite-field single to right scored Spear. Kim ran the count to 3-2 before Roblez struck him out on a 91-mph fastball.
