LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Big West announced Tuesday afternoon that three Long Beach State baseball players earned All-Big West honors following the conclusion of the 2026 season.Â
Â
Freshman right-hander Luke Howe was named the Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year, becoming the first Dirtbag to earn the honor since relief pitcher Devereaux Harrison in 2021 and just the second Long Beach State starting pitcher to receive the award. Howe finished the season leading the Dirtbags in wins (5) and innings pitched (85.2) while tying for the team lead in starts with 14. He also ranked second on the team with 67 strikeouts. The freshman posted a 5.04 ERA while striking out 67 batters across 85.2 innings of work. One of his top performances came against Cal State Fullerton on April 11 when he tossed eight innings and struck out 10 batters. Howe allowed only three home runs all season while becoming the Dirtbags' most reliable weekend starters.
Â
Jake Evans earned second-team All-Big West honors after putting together one of the top offensive seasons on the team. Evans hit .364 across 36 games while recording 43 hits, 12 doubles, three home runs and 16 RBI. He led Long Beach State in on-base percentage (.483) and doubles while ranking third on the team in batting average and hits. Evans also finished second on the team in total bases with 64 and posted a .542 slugging percentage, which ranked among the top marks in the conference. Defensively, Evans totaled 65 putouts and 44 assists while finishing the year with a .965 fielding percentage.
Â
Trevor Goldenetz was selected as an honorable mention All-Big West performer after emerging as one of the Dirtbags' most consistent hitters throughout the season. Goldenetz led Long Beach State with a .369 batting average while also pacing the team in stolen bases with 10. He totaled 41 hits, 26 runs scored, 20 walks and a .489 on-base percentage across 32 appearances. Goldenetz tied for the team lead in runs scored and consistently created opportunities offensively while adding versatility defensively in the outfield. He finished the season with a .987 fielding percentage and committed just one error in 75 total chances.
