What You Should Know Regarding NCAA Rules and Regulations in Regards to the Student-Athlete

COMPLIANCE
Compliance with NCAA regulations is of the highest priority for Long Beach State athletic programs. We need your assistance in complying with NCAA rules. When you are faced with a situation and unsure as to how to respond, we strongly urge you to contact our Associate AD for Compliance at (562) 985-8947 before acting. Your continued involvement and support of the Long Beach State athletic programs is most appreciated.

Freshman Students
General Requirements -- To practice or play during your freshman year, you must meet the provisions of NCAA Bylaw 14.3, which include:

1. graduating from high school

2. achieving a minimum cumulative grade point average in a successfully completed core curriculum of at least 16 academic courses, and achieving a corresponding minimum combined score on the SAT, or a minimum sum total score on the ACT as determined by an initial eligibility index

3. you must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center as soon as possible

The Eligibility Center must certify all incoming freshmen student-athletes as being academically eligible by meeting the provisions of (a) and (b) above.

Transfer & International Students
The NCAA has separate rules for both transfer and foreign student-athletes. For a comprehensive guide to its academic and general eligibility requirements as well as recruiting regulations please visit www.ncaa.org or call (877) 262-1492. All incoming transfers must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center for amateurism certification.
