LBSU Begins Big West Track Championships With Multis This Weekend

Long Beach State begins the Big West Championships this week with the multi-events. The Beach will be represented by Ryan Gregory, Milo Orona, and Aidan Turner in the decathlon. Claudine Raud-Gumiel, Jenelle Hurley, Tori Plummer, and Kendra Daniels will enter the heptathlon.
Gregory has posted the top decathlon mark in the Big West this season. He finished second at the Texas Relays after scoring the third-highest total in school history, 7,557 points. His score is 23rd in Division I this season and 13th in the West Region. Orona finished 10th in the decathlon at the Texas Relays. He reset his career-best in the event with 7,185 points (the eighth-best score in school history). Orona is 45th in Division I this season in the decathlon and is 24th in the West region. Turner, a 2024 U20 World Championship qualifier in the decathlon for his native Canada, scored 6,792 points in the decathlon at the Texas Relays to finish 14th.
Plummer is ranked third in the Big West in the heptathlon after scoring 4,972 points at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Her score is ranked third in the Big West and 49th in the West Region. Hurley (4,282) was 13th, while Raud-Gumiel (4,098) was 14th at the Texas Relays. Hurley's score is 10th in the Big West, while Raud-Gumiel is 14th. Daniels, a freshman, will be entering her first heptathlon. She has competed in the heptathlon events throughout the regular season. Daniels competed in four, 200m, high jump, long jump, and javelin at the Beach Opener. At the Oregon preview, Daniels ran the 200m, cleared 5-3 in the high jump, and went 16-7 in the long jump.Â

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
On the current NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List, Kyle Jankans is tied with two others for sixth in the high jump (7-3). Omri Shiff is 16th in the 400m hurdles (50.29). Â
On the current NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List, Sofia Lavreshina is 17th in the 400m hurdles (56.64). Rahni Turner is 33rd in the 100m hurdles (13.18),
In this week's USTFCCAA TFRI Outdoor Checkpoint, the Long Beach State men are ranked 66th in the National TFRI Team Summary. In the West Regional TFRI, LBSU is ranked 11th. In the conference TFRI Team Summary, the Beach is third. In the Event Squad Summary, Long Beach State is ranked ninth in the triple jump.
The LBSU women are ranked 108th in the National TFRI Team Summary. In the West Regional TFRI, LBSU is ranked 12th. In the conference TFRI Team Summary, the Beach is third.
