LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Ryan Gregory and Steven Evans-Glynn earned two of the Big West Conference's highest postseason honors after standout 2026 campaigns for Long Beach State men's track and field.
Gregory was named the Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Year, becoming the eighth athlete in program history to receive the award and the first Beach student-athlete to earn the honor since 2023.
The senior capped one of the finest seasons in program history by finishing fourth in the decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning First Team All-America honors for the first time. Gregory scored a school-record 8,001 points at the national meet, becoming the first Long Beach State athlete to surpass the 8,000-point barrier in the decathlon while breaking the school record of 7,898 points that he established a season ago.
Gregory earned All-America honors in the decathlon for the second consecutive season and became just the fourth Long Beach State athlete to receive All-America recognition in the event. His fourth-place finish was the second-highest national placing in program history, trailing only Chris Richardson's third-place finish in 2006.
Earlier in the season, Gregory won the Big West decathlon title with 7,816 points and posted a score of 7,810 points to finish third at the prestigious Bryan Clay Multis. His performance at Bryan Clay earned him Big West Athlete of the Week honors on April 14.
Evans-Glynn was selected as the Big West Men's Freshman Athlete of the Year, becoming the first Long Beach State student-athlete to win the award since 2017 and just the sixth in program history.
The freshman had a breakthrough campaign highlighted by a Big West championship in the long jump. Evans-Glynn captured the conference title with a leap of 7.83 meters (25 feet, 8¼ inches), earning a berth to the NCAA West First Round before advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
At the national meet in Eugene, Evans-Glynn earned Honorable Mention All-America honors after placing 18th in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.43 meters (24 feet, 1 inch). He became the first Long Beach State athlete to earn All-America recognition in the event since 2022.
Evans-Glynn also delivered several standout performances throughout the season, including a victory in the long jump at the Big West Challenge Cup with a mark of 7.42 meters (24 feet, 4¼ inches) while adding a third-place finish in the high jump at 1.96 meters (6 feet, 5 inches).
