Long Beach State Heads To Eugene For NCAA Outdoor Championships

Long Beach State heads to Eugene with national qualifiers in three men’s events.
LONG BEACH, Calif. --Â Long Beach State sends seven athletes competing in three events to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. starting Wednesday, June 10.
Steven Evans-Glynn qualified for the NCAA Championships in the men's long jump after placing 10th at the NCAA West First Round with a mark of 7.74m (25', 4 ¾").

Evans-Glynn becomes the first Long Beach State freshman to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Willie Alexander in 2013 and is the first Beach athlete to qualify nationally in the event since 2022. The men's long jump final is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 6:40 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

The Beach men's 4x100-meter relay team of Dre Johnson, Tristyn Flores, Vincent Jones and Trey Sheron also qualified for nationals with a time of 39.14, placing ninth overall. Adren Parker will serve as the alternate for the relay squad.

The quartet captured the 2026 Big West title earlier this season with a conference-record time of 39.33, recording the second-fastest mark in program history. The men's 4x100-meter relay semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, June 10 at 5:05 p.m. on ESPN. If they advance the finals will take place on Friday, June 12 at 5:02 p.m. on ESPN2.

Ryan Gregory qualified for the decathlon for the second consecutive season after winning the Big West decathlon title with 7,816 points, the second-best mark in program history behind his own school record of 7,898 set last season. Gregory earned second-team All-America honors in 2025 after placing 14th overall nationally with 7,634 points at the NCAA Championships.

Wednesday's opening five decathlon events will air on ESPN+ beginning at 1 p.m. and continue through 7:43 p.m. Thursday's final five decathlon events will stream on ESPN+ from 10:45 a.m. through 7:43 p.m.
