Long Beach State Track & Field Wins Six Times On Final Day At Steve Scott

Trinity Barnett doubles up in the 100m and 200m for LBSU

IRVINE, Calif.--- The Long Beach State track and field teams won six individual events as the Beach wrapped up the regular season Saturday at the Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium.
 
WOMEN
Trinity Barnett doubled up in the 100m and 200m. She won the 100m by running the sixth-fastest time in school history, 11.57. Barnett's 23.56 in the 200m earned her the victory with the fifth-quickest mark in school history.
 
Barnett ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay and earned runner-up honors after running 45.57.
Leading off the relay was Daryana Hall. Barnett passed the baton to Rahni Turner, who sent Sofia Lavreshina off on the anchor leg.
 
Maren Butler registered a season-best toss of 49-11 3/4 in the shot put to pick up the victory in the event.
 
Jonelle Scott (13-1 1/2) and Grace Stoddart (12-1 1/2) were second and third respectively in the pole vault. Stoddart tied with Peyton Yoshida of Point Loma Nazarene for the position.
 
Claudine Raud-Gumiel finished third in the 100m hurdles at 13.68. Former LBSU All-American, Hailey Fune' won the 100m hurdles, going 13.45.

MEN
Cristian Martinez won the mile after posting a time of 4:15.29.
 
Jaylon Wells won the shot put. His winning toss, 59-7 3/4, was almost three feet better than second-place Jacob Hawkins of UC Irvine (57-10 1/2).
 
Novye' James was the triple jump winner with a season-best leap of 50-2 1/2.
 
Canaan Wharry placed third in the shot put with a toss of 179-9 on his last attempt of the competition.
