Long Beach State Hosts Beach Opener This Weekend

THIS WEEK
Long Beach State opens the outdoor campaign this week as LBSU hosts the Beach Opener. Invited teams are Azusa Pacific, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State LA, CSUN, Cal State San Marcos, Concordia Irvine, La Verne, Long Beach State, Orange Coast College, San Diego Mesa College, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UCLA. Community/Junior College individuals are invited to compete if they meet the 2025 Beach Opener standards (found on LongBeachState.com).
The Beach Opener is the first of five events that Long Beach State will be hosting this season. Next is the Battle at the Beach on Apr. 4, followed by the Pacific Coast Invitational on Apr. 17, the Beach Invitational Apr. 18-19, and the Big West Championships (May 9-10, May 16-17).Â
LOOKING BACK
Long Beach State is coming off a successful indoor season. The Beach women broke or tied seven indoor school records and recorded 20 school top-10 marks. The LBSU men broke or tied two school records and tallied 16 school top-10 results.
Long Beach State won six individual events at the MPSF Championships Feb. 21-22. The Beach men were second in the team race, while the LBSU women finished third.
