Beach Splits Weekend Between Desert Heat Classic And Steve Scott Invitational

Long Beach State heads to Arizona and Irvine for a split weekend of competition.
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State returns to action this weekend with the Beach competing at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Ariz., and the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif.

THIS WEEK
The Beach opens Friday at the two-day Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium. Field events include Kendra Daniels and Daneira Pellum in the high jump, Abigail Gavrilovic and Diego Herrera-Vendrell in the hammer throw and Ryan Gregory, Milo Orona and Cyprus Rice in the pole vault. Cytres Vives and Kyra Miedecke will compete in the javelin, while Alexa Camacho, Jenna Morales and Pellum enter the long jump.

Friday track events feature Cameron Gill in the invitational 3000-meter steeplechase, Elisa Rodriguez in the women's 800 meters. Brandon Day, Lance Denhalter, Ethan Florez, Tarron Johnson, Cash Obando and Cameron Rhone will all enter the men's 800 meters. Sharice Laygo, Nataly Toledo, Marikay Schwab and Brooke Willoughby will compete in the women's 5000 meters, while Natasha King, Darcy Ray, Schwab and Alyssa Tapanes race in the women's 1500 meters. Tarron Jones and Max Ramirez will represent the Beach in the men's 1500 meters.

Saturday competition in Irvine includes Sophie Garrou, Charlotte O'Connor and Grace Stoddart in the pole vault, Sammy Chang and Gavrilovic in the discus, Quinten Flowers and Tola Spencer in the triple jump. Amelia Gray and Madeline Scovil will be competing in the women's triple jump and Gregory, Herrera-Vendrell and Orona in the men's discus.

On the track, Ndiah Hall will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, while Cameron Simmons races in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. Jaliyah Davis and Bree Hollins will compete in the women's 400 meters, Lance Denhalter enters the men's 400 meters, Daryana Hall races in the women's 100 meters and Gregory and Orona will compete in the men's 100 meters.

Saturday's Desert Heat Classic at Drachman Stadium field events features VJ Vanderlipe in the pole vault, Matthew Bender in the javelin, Eman Goodloe and Tyler Knowles in the hammer throw. Steven Evans-Glynn and Miguel Orozco will compete in the long jump, Giszelle Hrehor and Amanda Javellana in the hammer throw and Jonelle Scott in the pole vault. Mai Ricks will compete in the shot put and discus, while Knowles also enters the men's discus.

Track events in Tucson include the men's 4x400 relay featuring Tristyn Flores, Dre Johnson, Vincent Jones and Trey Sheron. Zamaria Mack will compete in the hurdles, while Miles Jones and Milani Bell race in the 400 meters. Flores, Johnson and Sheron will run the 100 and 200 meters, Trinity Barnett will compete in the women's 100 and 200 meters and Jaden Dasher enters the men's 400-meter hurdles.
