LBSU Women's Volleyball Hosts UC San Diego Before Traveling To Hawaii
As the 2024 regular season winds down, the Long Beach State Women's Volleyball team will host UC San Diego on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., before traveling to Honolulu to play Hawaii on Friday, Nov. 15 at 9 p.m. (PT).

• Long Beach State is not currently ranked in the AVCA Division I Poll. The Beach are 15-9 overall this season. With a 9-5 in Big West mark, LBSU sits in fifth place in the Big West standings and are just one game behind UC San Diego and Hawaii.
• The Beach have a competitive schedule as they faced four teams that are either nationally ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Rankings during the preseason in No. 1 Pitt, No. 11 Oregon, No. 13 Arizona State, and Washington which is receiving votes. Against opponents who are ranked or receiving votes, Long Beach State is 0-4
• UC San Diego is 16-9 on the year and 10-4 in conference play. The Tritons are unranked in the AVCA Poll and are in a four-way tie for first place in The Big West standings along with Cal Poly, Hawaii, and UC Davis which are all 10-4 in league action thus far.

About the Beach
• Long Beach State went 2-0 last weekend and has now won its last three-straight matches. The Beach went into Titan Gym and swept Cal State Fullerton on Friday, before taking down UC Irvine on the road on Saturday in four sets.
• Interim Head Coach Natalie Reagan is back for her second season overall at Long Beach State, but in her first at the helm. She earned her first-career win on Thursday, September 5 in a four-set victory over Northwestern. The win kicked off a four-match winning streak for the Beach.
• The Beach turned in a solid preseason as they strung together four-straight victories, marking the first time LBSU went on a four-match winning streak during the preseason since 2015.
• Reagan is joined on the sidelines by Associate Head Coach Bjarne Huus who is in his second season, as well as Assistant Coach Jordan Molina who returned to LBSU for his second year after serving as a Volunteer Assistant Coach during the 2022 season. In his first year with the Beach, Blake Omartian also serves as an assistant coach.
• The Beach are currently in fifth place in The Big West Standings and one game behind Cal Poly, Hawaii, UC Davis, and UC San Diego who are all tied for first place with a 10-4 Big West mark, LBSU owns a 9-5 conference record.
• During the preseason, the Beach earned a key victory over Washington State (3-0) as it was the first time in program history LBSU defeated WSU when playing in Long Beach, Calif. The sweep was also the first time an opponent handed the Cougars a straight-set loss this season.
• Senior outside hitter Natalie Glenn leads Long Beach State with 10 double-doubles on the year. She is also the Beach's leading scorer with 3.08 kills per set, while hitting .314.
• Zayna Meyer has paced the Long Beach State offense at setter as she has distributed 8.78 assists per set to rank sixth in The Big West. She has totaled 2,954 career assists and is just 46 away from becoming the sixth person in Long Beach State Women's Volleyball program history to reach the 3,000 career assist milestone. Additionally, Meyer contributes 2.19 digs, 0.92 kills, 0.67 blocks, and 0.22 aces per set on the year.
• Sophomore middle blocker Ella Lomigora has been solid all season as she leads Long Beach State with a .26 attack percentage, which comes in sixth in the conference. She is second on the squad in blocking defense with a 0.92 blocks per set average which is good for 10th in the conference. During the preseason, Lomigora set two new career-highs as she tallied a career-best 10 blocks against Northwestern, becoming the first LBSU player to reach double-digit blocks since 2018. At UC Davis, she matched her career-high as she put up another 10 blocks on November 2.
• Senior middle blocker Kameron Bacon has been excellent on both sides of the ball this season contributing a league-leading 1.32 blocks per set which as earned her a pair of Big West Defensive Player of the Week awards this season. Her solid blocking defense has helped the Beach to a 2.51 blocks per set average as a team, which ranks Long Beach State second in The Big West.
• At libero, the Beach have utilized both redshirt freshman Sarah Vellucci and senior Jenna Giambi. Giambi is averaging 2.19 digs per set, while Vellucci adds 0.97 digs per set.
• Freshman Madi Maxwell is making a name for herself as the freshman opposite was named Big West Freshman of the Week (week of 10/14) for her excellent performances over CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield. Against the Roadrunners, she registered her first collegiate double-double (12 kills, 11 digs) and served up a career-high five aces. She has now recorded three double-doubles on the year.
• This season, Long Beach State has been chosen to finish third in The Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Beach garnered 83 points and two first-place votes coming in just two points behind second place Hawaii, which garnered 85 points and three first-place votes. Cal Poly collected 94 points and five first-place votes and was chosen as the preseason favorite.
Scouting UC San Diego
• UC San Diego comes into the match against Long Beach State with a 16-9 overall record and a 10-4 conference mark which puts the Tritons in a tie for first along with Cal Poly, Hawaii, and UC Davis.
• As a team, UCSD is hitting .2103, while averaging 12.26 kills per set on 11.28 assists per set. The Tritons also have collected 13.95 digs per set, to go along with 2.32 blocks per set, and 1.60 aces per set.
• The Tritons are led by Ava McInnes who averages 2.92 kills per set on a .209 attack percentage. McInnes also adds 1.65 digs per set to go along with 0.33 blocks per set.
• UCSD platoons two setters in Audrey Hollis and Lauren Brooker. Hollis leads the way with 8.62 assists per set, while Brooker chips in 6.23.
• Paulina Baillie is the Tritons libero as she holds down the backcourt with 3.71 digs per set, while also leading the squad with 28 aces on the year.
• At the net, middle blockers Jasmine Saran and Emily McDaniel put up 0.91 and 1.08 blocks per set, respectively.
The Series: The Beach vs. The Tritons
Long Beach State and UC San Diego will meet for the ninth time in program history. In the all-time series, the Beach lead the Tritons, 8-0, as UCSD is looking for their first-ever win over Long Beach State. Earlier this season, the two teams faced off down in LaJolla and Long Beach State earned a 3-o sweep over UC San Diego.
Scouting Hawaii
• Hawaii heads into the week with a 16-8 overall record and a 10-4 mark in Big West action. The Rainbow Wahine are one of four teams tied for first place in The Big West standings as they are all knotted up with Cal Poly, UC San Diego, and UC Davis.
• The Rainbow Wahine went 1-1 last weekend. Hawaii suffered a 3-2 road loss to UC Riverside on Nov. 7 marking the first time in program history the Highlanders defeated the Bows. The Bows were quick to bounce back, earning 3-1 win at UC Davis on Nov. 9. The Bows have now won five of their last six matches.
• As a team, Hawaii is hitting .243, while averaging 13.85 kills per set on 12.90 assists per set. The Bows also have collected 15.35 digs per set, to go along with 1.50 blocks per set, and 1.15 aces per set.
• Caylen Alexander is Hawaii's leading scorer as she boasts an average of 5.35 kills per set on a .280 clip. The seven-time Big West Offensive Player of the Week award winner also adds 2.47 digs per set, 0.43 blocks per set, and leads the team with 24 service aces.
• At setter, Kate Lang runs the offense as she has dished out 10.46 assists per set, while contributing 2.54 digs per set, 0.56 kills per set, and 0.27 blocks per set, while hitting .287.
• Defensively, Tayli Ikenaga paces the backrow with 3.87 digs per set, while adding 1.08 assists per set.
• On blocking defense, the Bows are led by Miliana Sylvester who has posted 67 total blocks to average 0.67 blocks per set. On the year, she is hitting .307 to go along with 1.92 kills per set.
The Series: The Beach vs. The Rainbow Warriors
Long Beach State and Hawaii will meet for the 95th time in program history. The Bows lead the all-time series 43-19-1. However, Hawaii has won the last three contests against the Beach including a 3-0 sweep of Long Beach State back on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Senior setter Zayna Meyer has totaled 2,954 assists in her career to rank sixth all-time at Long Beach State. She is just 46 assists away from reaching the 3,000-assist milestone joining the elite setters in program history such as Sheri Sanders (1st - 6,301), Misty May (2nd - 5,046), Sabrina Hernandez (3rd - 4,796), Nicole Vargas (4th - 4,695), and Keri Nishimoto (5th - 3,563).
Ella Enchanted
Sophomore middle blocker Ella Lomigora has been on-point all season. The 6-foot-2 product out of Tempe, Ariz., is second on the team in blocking defense (0.92 blocks per set), which ranks her in the Top 10 in The Big West. She also leads the squad in hitting percentage (.326) to come in sixth in the conference. Lomigora posted a career-high 10 blocks against Northwestern, becoming the first LBSU player to reach double-digit blocks since 2018. Then she went on to lead the Beach with a career-high 12 kills on a career-best .857 (12-0-14) hitting percentage against Washington State. On November 2, she matched her career-high 10 blocks in a 3-2 win over UC Davis.
Bacon Sizzles
Senior middle blocker Kameron Bacon has been unstoppable at the net this season. She leads The Big West with 1.32 blocks per set on the year. She has won Big West Defensive Player of the Week honor twice this year, and for the fourth in her career. In addition to her strong blocking defense, Bacon contributes 1.34 kills per set on .230 attack percentage.
Mad Max
Freshman opposite Madi Maxwell had a breakthrough performance at Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, October 12 as she served up a career-high five aces, while recording her first collegiate double-double (12 kills, 11 digs). For her efforts, she won Big West Freshman Player of the Week for the first time on her career. Maxwell had another career outing on November 2 against UC Davis as she logged her second career double-double with a career-best 17 kills, 12 digs, and seven blocks. She has continued to roll as she collected her third double-double of the season (13 kills, 10 digs) at UC Irvine last weekend.
The Best in the (Big) West
Long Beach State has four players who rank in the top 10 in The Big West statistics wise. Senior middle blocker Kameron Bacon leads the conference with 1.32 blocks per set. Bacon sets the tone for the remaining trio as Natalie Glenn ranks in the Top 10 in the conference in four categories (.314 - 8th, 0.33 aces per set, 3.08 kills per set, and 3.73 points per set. Additionally, Ella Lomigora ranks sixth in the league in hitting percentage (.326) and 10th in blocks per set (0.92), while Zayna Meyer ranks sixth in assists per set (8.78).
