Blake Omartian joined the Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024 season. He brings coaching experience at the collegiate, professional, and club levels.
Omartian joined the professional coaching circuit during the 2023 season with the Orlando Valkyries. With the Valkyries, he served as both an assistant coach and the team’s technical coordinator. In those roles, Omartian provided in-depth analyses of opponents and incoming recruits, while also helping to plan and facilitate practices.
Omartian gained experience at the collegiate level at Concordia University Irvine where he served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams. Trusted by Olympians Riley Salmon and Paula Weishoff to lead the defensive and passing efforts as well as recruiting, Omartian was a key component to leading the women’s squad to a third place showing in the PacWest Conference, marking the Eagles’ highest since 2016.
Prior to joining the coaching staff of Concordia, Omartian coached at the prep level with Prime Volleyball Club, San Juan Hills High School, T Street Volleyball Club, and San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club. With San Gabriel, he helped guide the 12s and 13s age groups to four gold medals in the top divisions at Junior National Qualifiers.
Collegiately, Omartian played with Los Angeles Pierce College and Concordia University Irvine. Pierce College went on to win the California State Championship in 2018. Individually, Omartian earned First and Second Team All-Conference selection in 2017 and 2018. The team captain also finished first in the state in service aces.
At CUI, Omartian was an MPSF All-Academic Team selection in 2021 and won the program’s Best Communicator award. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management in 2020. He went on to graduate with a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration in 2021, as well as a Master of Science in Coaching and Exercise Science in 2022.
