Long Beach State Faces Road Challenge at No. 22 Oregon on Saturday
After opening the 2021-22 campaign on a seven-game winning streak, Long Beach State heads to Eugene, Ore., to face No. 22 Oregon on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena.

The national rankings came out earlier this week and Long Beach State is receiving votes in the USA Today/WBCA Poll, and ranked 12th in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid Major Top 25 Poll. Meanwhile, Oregon is ranked 22nd in the USA Today/WBCA Poll.
About the Beach
• With a seven-game winning streak, Long Beach State is 7-0 to start the season tying their best start since the 1985-86 season.
• The Beach were chosen to finish fourth in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll and second in the league's preseason media poll. Currently, LBSU sits atop the Big West Conference standings and are the only unbeaten school in the league.
• With a perfect 7-0 record, Long Beach State is just one of 13 unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I action thus far this season.
• The Beach have won five of seven games this season by double digits as they own a 14.57 scoring margin to lead the Big West.
• A defensively strong team, Long Beach State is averaging a league-leading 13.9 steals per game, which is also good for sixth in the nation. The Beach are forcing 23.3 turnovers per game, which also leads the conference and ranks 16th in the country. • Justina King leads the Beach in scoring the season with 13.0 points per game. King has led the team in scoring three times this season, reaching double-digits six times. In her career, she has accumulated 1,070 points and ranks in the top 25 at Long Beach State.
• Jasmine Hardy had a career-game against Seattle as she poured in a career-best 29 points on 11-of-14 made field goals and 7-of-9 made threes. She became just the fourth player in the Jeff Cammon era to reach at least 25 points in a game. This season she has led the Beach in scoring twice with three double-figure scoring showings. She is currently averaging 10.6 points per game.
• Maddi Utti made her Long Beach State debut and led the Beach with a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) and has since continued to excel on the court for the Beach averaging 10.4 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game. On the year, Utti is leading the Beach with 26 assists, 27 steals, and eight blocks.
• Kianna Hamilton-Fisher has been an integral part of the Beach offense. She has come off the bench and averaged 10.1 points per game to go along with 2.6 rebounds per game, 17 steals, 10 assists, and two blocks. .
• Ma'Qhi Berry has been a force on the court this season contributing on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she averages 6.9 points per game with 19 assists, to go along with 2.7 rebounds per game. On the defensive end, Berry owns five blocks, while adding 12 steals.
• Lauren Green has earned the start in 5-of-6 games this season and has played an important role on the court. Although her numbers aren't overpowering (0.7 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block), Green is a play maker. She makes things happen for the Beach both offensively and defensively and is a key component to the squad's success.
• Myrrah Joseph has seen action in each game this season, and earned the start against Rhode Island. She is averaging 4.9 points per game, 1.7 rebounds per game, while adding 11 assists, eight steals, and two blocks on the year.
• Patricia Chung is another cog in the Long Beach State wheel of success as the freshman guard is averaging 2.7 points per game and 0.6 rebounds per game. The scrappy Chung has helped contribute to the Beach's solid defensive efforts with a pair of steals and her stout defending.
• Thea Mikkelsen came to the Beach all the way from Roskilde, Denmark and in her collegiate debut tallied 10 points against Biola. Since her 10-point showing in the season opener, Mikkelsen has averaged 2.4 points per game, 0.9 rebounds per game, while adding four assists, and two steals in 41 minutes of action.
• Kristyna Jeskeova is another key factor to the Beach's deep bench. After earning the start last weekend at Air Force, Jeskeova is averaging 2.0 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game to go along with six steals, three assists, and three blocks.
• Freshman Savannah Tucker has also played an important role for the Beach as she recorded a career-high 10 points against Seattle. On the year, Tucker is averaging 2.0 points per game and 0.4 rebounds per game, while also contributing two assists and one steal.
• Brandy Huffhines made her collegiate debut for the Beach in the season opener against Biola. She has since seen action against Seattle and Air Force. In three games, she has seen 21 minutes of action and is averaging 0.7 points per game and one steal.
• Emily Sullivan has also been on the court in five games this season for a total of 18 minutes in which she has contributed three rebounds.

• The Ducks have struggled as of late after losing their two top play makers and leading scorer, Nyara Sabally, to injury.
• As a team, the Ducks are averaging 73.9 points per game as they hold an 11.6 scoring margin over their opponents, who are averaging 62.3 point per game.
• Oregon is shooting 46.3-percent from the field, while averaging 39.4 rebounds per game.
• The team averages 15.1 assists per game, while forcing 16.0 turnovers per contest for a 1.1 assist to turnover ratio.

With a 7-0 record to start the 2021-22 campaign Long Beach State is off to its best start under head coach Jeff Cammon. Additionally, the Beach have tied their best start since the 1985-86 season when they kicked off the year going 7-0 under legendary head coach Joan Bonvicini. That year, the Beach went 29-5 overall and 14-0 in PCAA action en route to advancing to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.

Long Beach State is among just 13 unbeaten NCAA Division I women's basketball programs in the country. The Beach are currently tied with Arizona and Tulsa with perfect 7-0 records. Meanwhile, Colorado, Nebraska, and South Carolina lead the way with 9-0 records, while BYU, Coastal Carolina, Duke, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Youngstown State are all 8-0 on the year. Rounding out the unbeaten squads is Cleveland State which is 6-0 on the year.
Preseason Honors
Long Beach State women's basketball senior forward Maddi Utti was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2022 Katrina McClain Award Preseason watch list. Named after two-time All-American and 1987 National Player of the Year Katrina McClain, the annual award is in its fifth year. It recognizes the top power forwards in women's NCAA Division I College Basketball.
Defensively Strong
Long Beach State is a well-established defensive team that has led the Big West in steals multiple times over the last several seasons. This year the Beach are averaging a conference-leading 13.9 steals per game, which ranks them sixth in the nation. Long Beach State has forced their opponents into 23.3 turnovers per game, which is good for 16th in the nation. Leading the way for the Beach is Maddi Utti who owns a conference-leading 3.86 steals per game average, which ranks her sixth in the country.
A Grand Time
Justina King became the 26th player in Long Beach State women's basketball history to record 1,000 points in her career. She reached the milestone on Nov. 13 at Boise State as she recorded 16 points in LBSU's 61-38 victory. King joins the elite company of All-Americans LaTaunya Pollard (3,001 career points), Cindy Brown (2,696 career points), Penny Toler (2,193 career points), and Kirsten Cummings (1,740 career points). Most recently, King moved up to 24th all-time with 1,070 career points.
Hardy Makes it Look Easy
Junior Jasmine Hardy had a career-day as she led Long Beach State over Seattle with a career-high 29 point performance. Hardy was firing on all cylinders as she connected on 11-of-14 field goals to shoot an impressive 78.6-percent from the field. Seven of her 11 field goals were from three-point range as she went 7-for-9 from long distance for a hot 77.8-percentage from behind the arc. Hardy has now led the Beach in scoring twice this season and is averaging 10.6 points per game.
Mad(di) Skills
Senior forward Maddi Utti showed off her skills in her Long Beach State debut as she led the team with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block. Since then, Utti has continued her stellar play as she averages 10.4 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game. In addition, she leads the Beach with 27 steals, 26 assists, and eight blocks.
Berry Good
Ma'Qhi Berry has been an integral part for the Beach as she has consistently contributed on both sides of the ball in her Long Beach State career. In just seven games thus far, Berry is averaging 6.9 points per game to go along with 2.7 rebounds per game. The redshirt junior guard out of Irving, Texas also adds 19 assists, 12 steals, and five blocks.
Ki Component
Kianna Hamilton-Fisher has been a key component for the Beach as she has come off the bench and made an impact in each game thus far. At the UVA Cavalier Classic, Hamilton-Fisher tied her career-high with 16 points against Rhode Island, while adding a season-best four rebounds. She is currently averaging 10.1 points per game on the year, while adding 2.6 rebounds per game, 17 steals, 10 assists, and two blocks.

Long Beach State is currently leading the Big West in seven statistical categories this season. The Beach set the standard in the league in scoring defense (51.0), scoring margin (+14.57), field goal percentage (43.9), rebounding defense (34.86), assists per game (16.0), steals per game (139), and turnover margin (+8.71). Helping the Beach excel in each of those categories are five members of the Beach who rank in the top 10 among Big West competition. Justina King ranks sixth in scoring (13.0 ppg), ninth in field goal percentage (41.6), eighth in assists (3.57), tied for 10th in steals (1.7), and ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.4). Justina King ranks sixth in scoring (13.0 ppg), ninth in field goal percentage (41.6), eighth in assists (3.57), tied for 10th in steals (1.7), and ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.4). Additionally, Maddi Utti is second in rebounding (8.6), sixth in field goal percentage (44.9), seventh in assists (3.7), first in steals (3.9), fifth in blocked shots (1.14), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.86), and fourth in offensive rebounds (2.3) and defensive rebounds (6.3). Jasmine Hardy's name appears in two categories as she ranks in the top 10 in field goal percentage (43.9) and three-point field goals made (1.57). Kianna Hamilton-Fisher is also in the top 10 twice as she ranks fifth in both steals (2.43) and 3-point field goal percentage (43.5). Rounding out the quintet is Ma'Qhi Berry who is tied for 10th in steals per game with 1.71.
