The Long Beach State women's basketball team takes its six-game winning streak to Colorado Springs, Colo., where the Beach will face off against Air Force on Sunday, December 5 at 1 p.m. (PT) / 2 p.m. (MT).

• Long Beach State kicked off the 2021-22 season on a six-game winning streak marking the best start in program history since the 1985-86 season.
• The Beach were chosen to finish fourth in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll and second in the league's preseason media poll.
• The Beach have won five of six games this season by double digits as they own a 16.8 scoring margin.
• A defensively strong team, Long Beach State is averaging 13.7 steals per game, while forcing 24.3 turnovers per game, and holding opponents to 51.3 points per game.

• Justina King leads the Beach in scoring the season with 12.7 points per game. King has led the team in scoring twice this season, reaching double-digits five times. In her career, she has accumulated 1,055 points and ranks in the top 25 at Long Beach State.
• Kianna Hamilton-Fisher has been an integral part of the Beach offense. She has come off the bench and averaged 11.5 points per game to go along with 3.0 rebounds per game, 16 steals, nine assists, and two blocks. She tied her career-high with 16 points against Rhode Island last weekend.
• Jasmine Hardy. Hardy had a career-game against Seattle as she poured in a career-best 29 points on 11-of-14 made field goals and 7-of-9 made threes. She became just the fourth player in the Jeff Cammon era to reach at least 25 points in a game. This season she has led the Beach in scoring twice with three double-figure scoring showings. She is currently averaging 11.3 points per game.
• Maddi Utti made her Long Beach State debut and led the Beach with a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) and has since continued to excel on the court for the Beach averaging 11.3 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game. Last weekend at the Cavalier Classic, Utti registered a season-high 14 rebounds and a career-high eight steals against Richmond, before coming back the next game and scoring a season-best 22 points against Rhode Island. On the year, Utti is leading the Beach with 25 assists, 24 steals, and six blocks.
• Ma'Qhi Berry has been a force on the court this season contributing on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she averages 6.8 points per game with 18 assists, to go along with 2.3 rebounds per game. On the defensive end, Berry owns four blocks, while adding nine steals.
• Lauren Green has earned the start in 5-of-6 games this season and has played an important role on the court. Although her numbers aren't overpowering (0.7 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block), Green is a play maker. She makes things happen for the Beach both offensively and defensively and is a key component to the squad's success.
• Myrrah Joseph has seen action in each game this season, and earned the start against Rhode Island last weekend. She is averaging 4.7 points per game, 1.2 rebounds per game, 10 assists, four steals, and two blocks on the year.
• Patricia Chung is another cog in the Long Beach State wheel of success as the freshman guard is averaging 3.2 points per game and 0.5 rebounds per game. The scrappy Chung has helped contribute to the Beach's solid defensive efforts with a pair of steals and her stout defending.
• Freshman Savannah Tucker has also played an important role for the Beach as she recorded a career-high 10 points against Seattle. On the year, Tucker is averaging 2.3 points per game and 0.5 rebounds per game to go along with two assists and one steal.
• Thea Mikkelsen came to the Beach all the way from Roskilde, Denmark and in her collegiate debut tallied 10 points against Biola. Since her 10-point showing in the season opener, Mikkelsen averaged 2.3 points per game, 1.0 rebounds per game, while adding four assists, and two steals in 35 minutes of action.
• Kristyna Jeskeova is another key factor to the Beach's deep bench. In just 26 minutes of action over six games, she has totaled six points, 12 rebounds, five steals, two assists, and two blocks.
• Brandy Huffhines made her collegiate debut for the Beach in the season opener against Biola. She has since seen action against Seattle as well. She has been on the court for 15 minutes of action this season and has helped the Beach with two points and one steal.
• Emily Sullivan has also been on the court in four games this season for a total of 16 minutes in which she has contributed three rebounds.
• Redshirting for Long Beach State this season are freshmen Shelby Ray and Teodora Popvic.
Scouting Air Force
• Air Force is 4-3 on the year and the Falcons have won three of their last four games.
• The Falcons are coming off of a 60-46 victory over Regis on Thursday, December 2.
• As a team, the Falcons are averaging 60.1 points per game as they hold a 4.3 scoring margin over their opponents.
• Air Force is shooting 38.0-percnet from the field, while averaging 34.4 rebounds per game.
• The team averages 9.9 assists per game, while forcing 22.7 turnovers per contest for a 0.5 assist to turnover ratio.
• The Falcons have 13.9 steals per game, while posting 2.1 blocks per game.
• Air Force has three players who average double-figures in Riley Snyder (16.0 ppg), Briana Autry-Thompson (12.3 ppg), and Cierra Winters (10.4 ppg). Autrey-Thompson also leads the team with 19 assists, while Winters leads the way with 23 steals.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Falcons
Long Beach State and Air Force will meet for just the second time in program history. They met just once before in 2019 and the Beach came away with a 74-68 overtime victory at the Walter Pyramid. This will be the first time the two teams will face off in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Hot Start
With a 6-0 record to start the 2021-22 campaign Long Beach State is off to its best start under head coach Jeff Cammon. Additionally, the Beach have also put together their best start since the 1985-86 season when they kicked off the year going 7-0 under legendary head coach Joan Bonvicini. That year, the Beach went 29-5 overall and 14-0 in PCAA action en route to advancing to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.
Preseason Honors
Long Beach State women's basketball senior forward Maddi Utti was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2022 Katrina McClain Award Preseason watch list. Named after two-time All-American and 1987 National Player of the Year Katrina McClain, the annual award is in its fifth year. It recognizes the top power forwards in women's NCAA Division I College Basketball.
Defensively Strong
With Long Beach State returning most of its team from last season, including Justina King and Ma'Qhi Berry who were named to the 2020-21 Big West All-Defensive Team, the Beach's defense looks to continue to be strong. The well-established Beach defense has led the Big West in steals multiple times over the last several seasons, including last year in which the Beach led the league with 11.43 steals per set. In just six games thus far, Long Beach State is averaging 13.7 steals per game, while forcing opponents into 24.3 turnovers per game. The Beach rank ninth in the nation in both categories.
A Grand Time
Justina King became the 26th player in Long Beach State women's basketball history to record 1,000 points in her career. She reached the milestone on Nov. 13 at Boise State as she recorded 16 points in LBSU's 61-38 victory. King joins the elite company of All-Americans LaTaunya Pollard (3,001 career points), Cindy Brown (2,696 career points), Penny Toler (2,193 career points), and Kirsten Cummings (1,740 career points). Most recently, King moved up to 25th all-time with 1,055 career points.
Hardy Makes it Look Easy
Junior Jasmine Hardy had a career-day as she led Long Beach State over Seattle with a career-high 29 point performance. Hardy was firing on all cylinders as she connected on 11-of-14 field goals to shoot an impressive 78.6-percent from the field. Seven of her 11 field goals were from three-point range as she went 7-for-9 from long distance for a hot 77.8-percentage from behind the arc. Hardy has now led the Beach in scoring twice this season and is averaing 11.3 points per game.
Mad(di) Skills
Senior forward Maddi Utti showed off her skills in her Long Beach State debut as she led the team with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block. Since then, Utti had a stellar showing at the UVA Cavalier Classic. She opened the tournament against Richmond and recorded a season-high 14 rebounds and career-high eight steals. Utti followed that showing with a season-best 22-point performance against Rhode Island. On the year, she is averaging 11.3 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with 25 assists, 24 steals, and six blocks. Utti is averaging 4.0 steals per game which leads the Big West and ranks her fifth in the nation.
Berry Good
Ma'Qhi Berry has been an integral part for the Beach as she has consistently contributed on both sides of the ball in her Long Beach State career. In just six games thus far, Berry is averaging 6.8 points per game to go along with 2.3 rebounds per game. The redshirt junior guard out of Irving, Texas also adds 18 assists, nine steals, and four blocks.
Ki Component
Kianna Hamilton-Fisher has been a key component for the Beach as she has come off the bench and made an impact in each game thus far. Last week at the UVA Cavalier Classic, Hamilton-Fisher tied her career-high with 16 points against Rhode Island, while adding a season-best four rebounds. She is currently averaging 11.5 points per game on the year, while adding 3.0 rebounds per game, 16 steals, nine assists, and two blocks.
