Jasmine Hardy Leads Long Beach State Over Seattle, 86-63, with Career-Performance

Hardy poured in 29 points with seven made threes and 11 made field goals in the victory

LONG BEACH, Calif. – It was the Jasmine Hardy show Thursday night at the Walter Pyramid. The junior guard had a career night with 29 points to lead Long Beach State to an 86-63 win over Seattle.
With Hardy's sharp-shooting the Beach shot 46.9-percent from the field and 45.8-percent from long distance en route to improving to 3-0 to start the season. Meanwhile, the Redhawks dropped to 1-2 on the year.
Hardy led the Beach as she went 11-for-14 (78.6-percent) from the field and 7-for-9 (77.8-percent) from behind the arc, tying for second in the Long Beach State single-game record book for most made threes. In addition to pouring in 29 points, Hardy also added five rebounds, two steals, and an assist in the game.
Also registering double-figures for the Beach were Maddi Utti (13 points), Justina King (11 points), and Savannah Tucker (10 points). Utti was one board shy of a double-double as she led LBSU with nine, to go along with a team-best five assists, and one steal. King added four assists, one rebound, and one steal, while Tucker came off the bench and tallied 10 points as she sunk three field goals in a row down the stretch in the fourth quarter.
The Long Beach State defense was on point as the Beach grabbed 15 steals, led by Kristyna Jeskeova's five, while forcing Seattle to commit 25 turnovers. LBSU did a solid job converting as the Beach scored 30 points off turnovers, which led to a comfortable lead throughout the game.
Highlighting the stout defense, LBSU took a 15-10 lead over Seattle at the end of the first quarter as the Beach held the Redhawks scoreless over the last nine possessions, closing out the opening quarter on a 9-0 run.
The Beach kicked off the second quarter with back-to-back threes from Hardy and Kianna Hamilton-Fisher to open up a 21-10 advantage. From there, Long Beach State broke the game wide open using a 10-0 run as the Beach cruised to a 38-21 lead at the half.
Long Beach State continued its hot-shooting into the second half as the Beach extended their lead to 29 (56-27) after another three from Hardy, giving her a new career-high. LBSU held a 67-32 lead over Seattle heading into the final quarter.

The Beach led by as many as 38 points (70-32) after Patricia Chung completed the three-point play. However, after Long Beach State pulled its starting five, Seattle managed to cut the Beach's lead down to 23 as LBSU came away with the 86-63 victory.
Seattle was led by McKenzi Williams who scored 10 points, while Courtney Murphy led the squad with nine boards and four assists to go along with eight points.
Long Beach State will be back in action on Sunday, November 28 when the Beach host Santa Clara at 2 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
