Long Beach State Women's Basketball Hosts Seattle, Santa Clara at the Walter Pyramid
After opening the season with a pair of convincing victories, Long Beach State returns home to face Seattle and Santa Clara on Thursday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 21, respectively. The Beach and the Redhawks tip-off on Thursday at 7 p.m. a the Walter Pyramid, before LBSU hosts the Broncos on Sunday at 2 p.m.

COVID-19 Notes
• Mask mandates remain in place in the Walter Pyramid and are anticipated to last throughout the season. Additionally, State of California regulations mandate all spectators for events inside the Walter Pyramid must provide either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event. That policy will be in place until further notice.
• If you are coming to the Walter Pyramid this season, please allow for extra time to enter the venue due to COVID-19 protocols as well as parking. Parking payment can be done in two ways, either at the parking machines on site or via the Parkmobile App.
About the Beach
• Long Beach State brings a 2-0 record back to the Walter Pyramid after defeating Boise State, 61-38, on the road last Saturday.
• The Beach were chosen to finish fourth in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll and second in the league's preseason media poll.
• Long Beach State returns nine letterwinners from a year ago including Big West All-Conference selections Justina King, Ma'Qhi Berry, and Patricia Chung.

• Lauren Green has started in the first two games of the season for the Beach and has made an impact on defense. In addition to her strong defense on the court, Green also adds 2.0 points per game, 1.5 rebounds per game, and one block.
• Off the bench, Kianna Hamilton-Fisher came into the game for the Beach and scored 10 points against Biola. She followed that showing with a 7-point effort at Boise State to average 8.5 points per game to go along with 2.0 rebounds per game, seven steals, two assists, and one block.
• After recording 10 points in her collegiate debut, Thea Mikkelsen saw action in six minutes of play at Boise State and came away with two points and two boards. On the year, Mikkelsen is averaging 6.0 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game, two assists, and two steals.

Long Beach State and Seattle will face off for the sixth time in program history in a series that goes back to 2011. In the last 10 year, the Redhawks hold a 3-2 edge in the all-time series over the Beach. In their most recent meeting, in 2019, Seattle defeated LBSU, 66-54, as Long Beach State looks for its first win over the Redhawks since 2015 when the Beach were victorious, 69-57.
Scouting Santa Clara
• Santa Clara comes into the week against Long Beach State with a 2-0 record after having opened the 2021-22 season with a 91-77 victory over Cal Poly, before defeating Nevada, 73-60.
• Santa Clara is averaging 82.0 points per game this season, while holding opponents to 68.5 points per game, for a 13.5 scoring margin.
• The Broncos are also out-rebounding their counterparts 33.5 boards per game to 29.5 for a rebounding margin of 4.0.

Junior guard Justina King became the 26th player in Long Beach State women's basketball program history to record 1,000 points in her career. King reached the milestone on Saturday at Boise State as she recorded a team-leading 16 points in the Beach's 61-38 victory. King joins the elite company of All-Americans LaTaunya Pollard (3,001 career points), Cindy Brown (2,696 career points), Penny Toler (2,193 career points), and Kirsten Cummings (1,740 career points). King is currently 15 points away from moving into 25th place on the career list.
Mad(di) Skills
Senior forward Maddi Utti showed off her skills in her Long Beach State debut as she led the team with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block. The transfer from Fresno State, and 2020 Mountain West Player of the Year, currently is averaging 9.5 points per game and leading the Beach with 8.5 rebounds per game, while adding six assists, six steals, and two blocks.
Hardy Makes it Look Easy
Junior Jasmine Hardy got the 2021-22 season off to a solid start as she earned the start at guard and went on to tie for the team lead with a 12-point performance. Hardy is now averaging 7.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, three steals, and two assists on the year.
Berry Good
Ma'Qhi Berry has been an integral part for the Beach as she has consistently contributed on both sides of the ball in her Long Beach State career. In just two games thus far, Berry is the team's second leading scorer with 11.5 points per game, while also registering 4.0 rebounds per game, four assists, two steals, and one block.

Kianna Hamilton-Fisher came off the bench for the Beach and recorded double-digits with 10 points in the season opener. She has since averaged 8.5 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game to go along with a team-leading seven steals.
