FIRST PITCH
Long Beach State welcomes LMU to Bohl Diamond at Blair Field on Tuesday night. The second meeting between the Lions and the Dirtbags begins at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. Matt Brown and Cody Yates will have the call. 

SCOUTING THE LIONS
LMU improved to 12-8 after a weekend sweep of Tarleton State at home in which the Lions outscored Tarleton 22-9.

Beau Ankeney leads the team in hitting (.361), home runs (5), RBI (25), and slugging (.614). LMU has not named a probable starter for Tuesday night's game.

SIX OVER 2000
For the sixth time this season, Long Beach State drew over 2,000 fans into Bohl Diamond at Blair Field against Cal Poly on Mar. 16. The largest crowd of the regular season, 2,439, saw the Dirtbags face Cal Poly.

LBSU enjoyed tremendous support on opening weekend as 1,842 came on opening day versus Northwestern.

Long Beach State drew over 2,000 fans for the Saturday and Sunday games against Northwestern. On Saturday, 2,055 fans came through the turnstiles, while the Bark in the Park crowd numbered 2,123 on Sunday.

The 2000 streak continued during the Michigan series. The opener featured an attendance of 2,367. The middle game had 2,320 before the series wrapped up, with the biggest crowd of the season so far, 2,465.

Long Beach State has the second-highest average attendance in the Big West (1,993) and is currently 37th in Division I in this category.

Since 2000, the Dirtbags have played in front of at least 2000 fans 121 times.

BRISENO BASHES
Armando Briseno is bashing the ball through the first six Big West games. In league-only competition, the junior shortstop is hitting .524 (11-21). He has posted a .765 slugging and .515 on-base percentage in Big West games through two weeks.

Overall, Briseno leads the Dirtbags in hitting (.313) and home runs (3) and is tied for the club-high in RBI (14) with Kyle Ashworth and Connor Charpiot.
 
CHAMPAGNE STREAK
Dating back to May 27, 2023, Long Beach State centerfield Alex Champagne has started 76 consecutive games, playing 671.2 consecutive innings.

He was the only Dirtbags player to appear and start all 55 games in 2024, playing every inning in center field.

Entering this week, Champagne has reached base in 16 consecutive games. He is the team leader in runs scored (16) and is second in batting (.296). He has not committed an error in 41 chances in center in 2025.
