Long Beach State looks to defend its MPSF Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend as the 32nd edition of the MPSF meet is set for Friday and Saturday. The action begins at 10 a.m. on both days with coverage being streamed on RunnerSpace+ for a fee. Live stats are available and can be found on LongBeachState.com.

Long Beach State leads the MPSF in four events this year. Jaylon Wells in the men's shot put (58-9 1/2). Trinity Barnett in the women's 60m, a LBSU record 7.32aa (NCAA No. 48), Sofia Lavreshina in the women's 400m, a school record 53.63aa. and Claudine Raud-Gumiel in the women's long jump with a school record 20-0 1/4.

Lavreshina is the defending MPSF Champion in the 400. Barnett is the defending 60m champion as she won the league title last season as a member of the Cal State Fullerton team.

LBSU competitors on the women's side looking to defend a MPSF title are Hayley Fune' (Pentathlon). Fune' is the reigning and two-time MPSF Women's Athlete of the Year. Rahni Turner will and try and repeat after winning the 60m hurdles in a school record 8.25 last season.

Kyle Jankans is going to try and three-peat in the high jump. He cleared a career-best 7-1 3/4 to win the title in 2023 and went 6-11 in 2024 in the event. Looking to repeat on the men's side for Long Beach State are Cyprus Rice (Pole Vault), Aidan Turner (Heptathlon). Long Beach State are the defending champs in the men's distance medley relay.

The Beach concluded the regular season at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic Feb. 7-8 where a pair of school records were either tied or broken. Here are the recaps;
