Lavreshina Resets Her Own 400m School Record at NM Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The sixth school record of the indoor season fell for Long Beach State as competition wrapped up at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic Saturday afternoon at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
WOMEN
Sofia Lavreshina broke her school record in the 400m with an altitude-adjusted time of 53.53. She set the previous record last season when she ran 53.58aa. She finished 11th among the 47 entries.
Tayah DeSousa recorded the sixth fastest 60m hurdles time, 8:54, in the semifinals of the race.
The Beach finished 13th (16) as Texas Tech (82.33) won the team race.
MEN
Jaylon Wells posted the third-longest indoor shot put toss, 58-9, to finish ninth in the event.
Cyprus Rice finished ninth in the pole vault after clearing 16-2 1/2.
Although Long Beach State did not score in the 400m, a pair of LBSU entries reached the top 10 in school history in the event. Vincent Jones posted an altitude-adjusted mark of 47.69, the eighth quickest time in school history. In his race heat, Omri Shiff recorded the 10th-fastest 400m time in school history, 47.85.
The Beach finished 16th (5) as USC (101.5) won the team race.
