Gregory Opens NCAA Indoor Championships With Two Personal Bests

Long Beach State senior Ryan Gregory opened the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday with 3,195 points through four events in the men’s heptathlon.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Competing against the nation's top multi-event athletes at the NCAA Indoor Championships, Gregory delivered a strong opening day with two lifetime bests and one season-best mark as Long Beach State's lone representative at the national meet at the Randal Tyson Track Center hosted by the University of Arkansas.
The senior from Owatonna began his national championship campaign in the 60 meters, running 6.94 seconds to finish seventh. The performance stands as his second-fastest 60-meter time all-time.
Gregory followed with a season-best mark of 6.98 meters (22 feet, 10¾ inches) in the long jump, placing 14th in the field.
In the shot put, he recorded the first lifetime best of the day with a throw of 12.28 meters (40 feet, 3½ inches), finishing 15th overall.
His strongest event came in the high jump, where Gregory cleared a lifetime-best 2.06 meters (6 feet, 9 inches) to finish third and record his second personal best of the day.
Gregory enters the final day of competition with 3,195 points as the heptathlon resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. PT with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 meters remaining. He will look to close out an impressive 2026 indoor season with a strong finish on the national stage.
