FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Entering the second day of competition in 13th place, Gregory climbed two spots in the national standings to finish 11th overall with 5,867 points, surpassing the Long Beach State record of 5,827 points he set earlier this month at the MPSF Indoor Championships.
Gregory opened the final day with a 10th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing in 8.22 seconds.
He then cleared 4.57 meters (15 feet) in the pole vault to place 12th in the event.
Gregory closed the competition with his strongest event of the day, winning the 1,000 meters with a personal-best time of 2:32.02 to secure the top finish in the final event of the heptathlon and seal his new school record.
The senior from Owatonna, Minn., wrapped up an impressive indoor season as Long Beach State's lone representative at the national championships after becoming the first Beach athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2022 and 25th overall.
