Gregory Qualifies For NCAA Indoor Championships In The Heptathlon

Long Beach State senior Ryan Gregory will represent the Beach at the NCAA Indoor Championships after breaking the program record in the heptathlon and securing a national qualifying mark at the MPSF Championships.
LONG BEACH, Calif. — Long Beach State indoor track and field senior Ryan Gregory has qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in the heptathlon, marking the first NCAA indoor qualifier for the Beach since 2022.
Gregory secured his national berth after scoring 5,827 points in the heptathlon at the MPSF Indoor Championships on March 2 in Reno, Nevada. His total placed him 13th overall in the conference meet and broke the Long Beach State indoor school record of 5,399 points that had stood since 2011.
With the performance, Gregory becomes the 25th athlete in program history to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
The 2026 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Hosted by the University of Arkansas, the national meet will feature 34 events, 17 for men and 17 for women, with approximately 650 athletes competing.
The heptathlon will begin at 11 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday, as Gregory looks to continue his record-setting season on the national stage.
