Long Beach State continues its challenging nonconference slate with a road test in Corvallis as the young roster builds momentum through November.

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Long Beach State (0-5) is back on the road Sunday afternoon for a nonconference matchup at Oregon State (4-1). This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the programs and the first since the 2021–22 season, with Oregon State leading the all-time series 3–0.

RIGHT AWAY

• The Beach opened the 2025–26 season with a challenging two-game road swing through the Mountain West, beginning at Wyoming before traveling to Colorado State two days later. The trip provided early opportunities for a young roster to settle into new roles and build chemistry against two experienced opponents.

• Long Beach State then returned home for its 2025–26 home opener against future Big West opponent California Baptist. Although the Beach fell 80-63, the group showed early signs of growth and improved defensive cohesion from the opening road trip.

• The momentum carried into a tightly contested battle against another future Big West foe, Sacramento State, at the Gold Mine, where the Beach held the Hornets to 57 points, more than 20 below their season average, in a 57-54 loss that came down to the final minute.

• Most recently, Long Beach State turned in one of its strongest performances of the season despite a 68-55 loss to San Francisco. The Beach outscored the Dons 19-13 in the third quarter and trimmed the margin to two, showing poise and energy out of halftime before a fourth quarter scoring drought stalled the comeback. The effort reinforced the team's progress in rebounding, defensive consistency and overall offensive flow.

• Senior guard JaQuoia Jones-Brown has emerged as one of the top guards in the Big West. She set back-to-back career scoring highs with 19 points against California Baptist and 29 against Sacramento State and is coming off her second double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds against San Francisco. Her first double-double came at Colorado State, where she posted 13 points and 10 rebounds. This week, she was named the Big West Player of the Week for her back-to-back career efforts, the program's first honoree of the season. Jones-Brown remains among the conference leaders in both scoring and rebounding.

• Freshman guard Brynna Pukis has quickly emerged as a confident perimeter option and an early offensive spark for the Beach. She recorded her first double figure outing with 14 points against San Francisco and continues to create her own shot and knock down threes. Her shooting range and spacing ability provide important balance to Long Beach State's offense.

• Forward Judit Oliva Fernandez continues to provide steadiness in the frontcourt with her scoring touch, rebounding presence and defensive instincts. She is averaging 8.4 points and 5.4 rebounds and remains among the Big West leaders in blocks.

• Through five games, the Beach have shown measurable growth in defensive consistency, offensive execution and overall competitiveness while navigating a demanding nonconference schedule. Sunday's matchup at Oregon State presents another opportunity for a young roster gaining confidence weekly.
