Cal Poly hosts the Big West Championships this weekend. ESPN+ will have coverage beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday. L
THE LBSU WOMEN
The two-time defending women's champions, the Beach, enter the competition in first place, as LBSU scored 16 points during the heptathlon on May 3-4.Â
Sofia Lavreshina represented her home country, Portugal, last weekend at the World Relays in the Bahamas. She ran the anchor leg of Portugal's 4x400 squad, which finished fourth in their heat (3:35.64). Lavreshina is ranked first in the Big West in the 400m hurdles (59.02) and third in the 400m (54.72).Â
Three other Long Beach State women's entries enter the Big West Championships ranked first in their respective events;Â
THE LBSU MEN
Long Beach State looks to reclaim the top spot for the first time since 2019. The Beach men are third after last weekend's decathlon with seven points.Â
2023 All-American Kash Powell is ranked first in the 800m (1:48.14). Long Beach State has two other top seeds in;
