Long Beach State Heads To Big West Multis

Long Beach State travels to the Big West Multis this weekend at Cal Poly. Entered in the decathlon for the Beach are Justice Fair, Milo Orona, and Aidan Turner.

As a junior, Fair finished fourth in the Big West decathlon a year ago, recording a career-high 6,596 points. Orona, a sophomore, placed fifth (6,376) in the Big West decathlon last season.

Orona recorded the 10th-best decathlon score in school history earlier this season when he finished second at the UCR Spring Break Multis with 7,020 points.

Turner is a freshman who won the heptathlon at the 2024 MPSF Indoor Championships. In his lone decathlon of the outdoor campaign, Turner was third at the UCR Spring Break Multis with a score of 6,520 points.

The decathlon begins on Friday at 11 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Sofia Bailey, Alli Bryan, Hailey Fune', and Jenelle Hurley are Long Beach State's four entries in the heptathlon.

Bailey, a senior, finished fourth in the heptathlon for the Beach in 2023 with a career-high 4,951 points. At UC Santa Barbara, Bailey was third at the 2022 Big West heptathlon and fourth at the 2021 edition of the heptathlon.

Bryan is a sophomore competing in her second Big West heptathlon. Last season, she finished 16th for Long Beach State in the event.

A two-time MPSF pentathlon champion, Fune' scored a career-best 5,192 points last season to finish third in the heptathlon for the Beach. 2024 is her fourth Big West heptathlon, competing for LBSU in 2021 (9th) and 2022 (13th).

Hurley's first Big West heptathlon is this week. A Western Oregon transfer, Hurley won the heptathlon for the Wolves at the 2023 GNAC Championships after finishing second in the event as a freshman.

The heptathlon begins at 11:30 a.m. on both days.
