LBSU Women's Basketball Hosts CSUN, UC Irvine
After a three-week road swing, the Long Beach State Women's Basketball team returns to the Walter Pyramid to kick off the New Year with Big West games against CSUN and UC Irvine. The Beach and the Matadors will face off on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m., and LBSU and UCI will go head-to-head in the Black and Blue Rivalry game on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m.

Long Beach State has played two ranked teams this season so far in then-No. 18 Arizona in Tucson and then-No. 24 Baylor in Waco. The Beach suffered a pair of road losses to both the Wildcats and the Bears. Earlier this season, LBSU opened the season against then-unranked Gonzaga and dropped an 80-54 decision on the road. However, since the season opener on November 10, the Bulldogs have moved into the national rankings coming in at No. 20 in the latest AP Poll. In the Women's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, Gonzaga ranks No. 1, while UC Irvine comes in at No. 19, and San Francisco, who the Beach played in the non-conference season, is ranked No. 23. Meanwhile, Southern Miss and UC Santa Barbara are receiving votes.

• The Beach are 2-0 in Big West action after kicking off the conference season with a pair of wins at UC San Diego (66-52) and at UC Riverside (72-63).

Scouting CSUN
• CSUN brings a 3-9 overall record and a 2-0 Big West mark into the Walter Pyramid for their contest against the Beach.
• The Matadors opened Big West action with a pair of wins over Cal Poly (65-55) and Cal State Fullerton (69-59). With two wins to start league play, CSUN is tied for first in the Big West standings with Long Beach State and Hawaii.
• CSUN struggled during the non-conference portion of the season, winning just one game, a 97-90 victory over Seattle on the road.

• The Anteaters have won their last three contests, including their Big West opener against CSU Bakersfield (55-49) last week. Additionally, UCI has won four of their last five games, with their lone loss during that stretch coming to Southern Miss (50-45) at the Beach Classic, hosted by LBSU.
• As a team, UCI is averaging 64.1 points per game, while shooting 38.7 percent from the floor. They have allowed 52.0 points per game, for a scoring margin of +12.1.

Senior guard Ma'Qhi Berry has racked up 937 points throughout her Long Beach State career. As she closes in on the 1,000-point milestone, the Irvine, Texas native is looking to become the 27th player in Beach Women's Basketball history to reach 1,000 career points.

Junior guard Kristyna Jeskeova has been a force on all sides of the ball this season for Long Beach State. The Czech Republic native is the team's leading rebounder (6.5 rpg) as she's recorded double-figure rebounding games three times this season. She has also led the Beach in scoring twice, including a career-high 21-point performance against Southern Miss. On the year, Jeskeova is averaing 7.3 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game, while also adding a team-high 11 blocks.

Ma'Qhi Berry is a redshirt senior guard in her fifth year at Long Beach State and is currently leading the team in assists (52) and steals (30). She has been an integral part of the LBSU starting five averaging 6.4 points per game, while adding 3.7 rebounds per game. She has led the Beach in assists in 10 games this season.

Malia Bambrick has been on a roll since making her Long Beach State debut earlier this season. The senior guard who transferred to LBSU from Pepperdine is the Beach's second leading scorer as she averages 12.4 points per game. Her 43.4 field goal percentage is good for second on the team and fifth in The Big West.

Tori Harris came to the Beach from St. Bonaventure and has made an immediate impact on the Long Beach State offense. The senior guard had a career weekend to open up Big West action as she recorded a career-high 21 points at UC San Diego, before besting that with a 22-point performance at UC Riverside. Harris is now the Beach's leading scorer with 13.4 points per game, while shooting a team-leading 50.4 percent from the field to rank second in the Big West.

Malia Bambrick has been on a roll since making her Long Beach State debut earlier this season. The senior guard who transferred to LBSU from Pepperdine is the Beach's second leading scorer as she averages 12.4 points per game. Her 43.4 field goal percentage is good for second on the team and fifth in The Big West.

Tori Harris came to the Beach from St. Bonaventure and has made an immediate impact on the Long Beach State offense. The senior guard had a career weekend to open up Big West action as she recorded a career-high 21 points at UC San Diego, before besting that with a 22-point performance at UC Riverside. Harris is now the Beach's leading scorer with 13.4 points per game, while shooting a team-leading 50.4 percent from the field to rank second in the Big West.
