Long Beach Women's Hoops Faces Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego
The Long Beach State Women's Basketball team travels to Cal State Fullerton for a Thursday, Jan. 19 game at 7 p.m., before hosting UC San Diego on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid.

In the Rankings
Long Beach State has played two ranked teams this season so far in then-No. 18 Arizona in Tucson and then-No. 24 Baylor in Waco. The Beach suffered a pair of road losses to both the Wildcats and the Bears. 

Earlier this season, LBSU opened the season against then-unranked Gonzaga and dropped an 80-54 decision on the road. However, since the season opener on November 10, the Bulldogs have moved into the national rankings coming in at No. 16 in the latest AP Poll. 

In the Women's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, Gonzaga ranks No. 1, while UC Irvine comes in at No. 16. Meanwhile, Southern Miss, UC Santa Barbara, and San Francisco are receiving votes.

About the Beach
• Long Beach State comes into the week with a 9-7 overall record and a 4-2 ledger in Big West action.
• The Beach had a successful showing last week with a pair of wins over Cal Poly (65-42) and Hawaii (62-48).
• LBSU has been chosen to finish third in the Big West Preseason Coaches Poll with a total of 73 points. Long Beach was chosen to finish behind preseason favorite Hawaii, which earned 99 points and nine first-place votes, as well as UC Santa Barbara, which came in second with 84 points and two first place votes.
• As a team, Long Beach State is averaging 62.49 points per game for a scoing margin of +3.44 as their opponents are averaging 58.75 points per game.
• Offensively, the Beach are shooting 42.4 percent from the field, a mark that ranks them second in The Big West.
• This season, LBSU is averaging 29.63 rebounds per game, while adding 14.25 assists per game, and a conference-leading 12.50 steals per game.
• LBSU has three double-figure scorers on the squad in Tori Harris (12.6 ppg),Malia Bambrick (12.3 ppg), and Kianna Hamilton-Fisher (10.1 ppg).
• Harris also leads the team with a 46.5 field goal percentage which is good for fourth in The Big West, while Bambrick's field goal percentage of 43.1 ranks her sixth in the conference.
• Junior Kristyna Jeskeova is the team's leader in rebounding as she has accumulated 108 to average 6.8 per game, which ranks her fifth in the Big West. The product out of the Czech Repubilic also adds 7.3 points per game, while totaling a team-best 50 steals, and 15 blocks. Her 3.13 steals per game lead The Big West, while her 0.94 blocks per game are good for sixth in the league.
• Redshirt senior guard Ma'Qhi Berry has been a key component to Long Beach State's success as she leads the way with 59 assists, 34 steals and 11 blocks. She also contributes 6.5 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game. Berry leads the Big West in asssits per game (4.54), while ranking second in assist/turnover ratio (1.37), and third in steals per game (2.62).

Scouting Cal State Fullerton
• Cal State Fullerton brings a 7-8 overall record into the week, and the Titans are 2-4 in Big West action.
• The Titans are coming off of a 67-51 win over UC Davis last week at Titan Gym. Their other conference win came at the hands of UC Riverside on Jan. 5, when the Titans defeated the Highlanders, 51-42.
• As a team, Cal State Fullerton is averaging 60.1 points per game, while shooting 38.9 percent from the field, and 33.9 percent from long distance.
• Additionally, the Titans average 31.6 rebounds per game, to go along with 10.5 assists, 9.0 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game.
• Fujika Nimmo is the Titans' leading scorer with 15.0 points per game on a 40.5 field goal percentage. Nimmo also adds 2.8 boards per game to go along with 37 assists, 26 steals, and two blocks.
• Una Jovanovic is the squad's second leading scorer (14.9 ppg) and eader in assists (46). She also contributes 3.6 rebounds per game and 17 steals.
• Gabi Vidmar leads Cal State Fullerton in steals with 48, while coming in third on the team with 9.4 points per game. She also averages 5.5 rebounds per game, while totaling 31 assists, and four blocks.
• Leading the Titans in rebounding is Ashlee Lewis wiht 6.5 per game. Lewis is the team's fourth-leading scorer with 9.3 points per game.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Titans
Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton will meet for the 124th time in program history. The series that dates back to the 1965-66 season is led by the Beach, 80-43. However, when playing each other in Fullerton, the Titans hold the edge, 34-21. Long Beach State has been victorious in the last four meetings, as Cal State Fullerton is looking for their first win over LBSU since Jan. 11, 2020 when the Titans defeated the Beach, 69-65 at Titan Gym.

Scouting UC San Diego
• UC San Diego owns a 7-9 overall record as they enter the week. The Tritons are 4-2 in Big West competition.
• The Tritons went 2-0 last week with wins over CSU Bakersfield (62-50) and at UC Davis (65-63).
• UCSD is set to play Long Beach State for the second time this season, after having dropped the initial contest to LBSU, 66-52, earlier this season in La Jolla, Calif.
• UC San Diego is averaging 60.9 points per game on a 39.2 field goal percentage, while their opponents are averaging 66.4 points per game.
• The Tritons average 36.1 rebounds per game, to go along with 12.4 assists, 6.2 steals, and 2.4 blocks per game on the year.
• Sydney Brown is the Tritons' leading scorer with 13.7 points per game, while shooting 42.5 percent from the floor. She also leads the team in rebounding with 7.3 boards per game, 27 assists, and 11 blocks. 
• Parker Montgomery leads UCSD in steals with 19, while also contributing 7.3 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game. She is tied with Brown as the team's leader in assists with 27, while also posting five blocks.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Tritons
Long Beach State and UC San Diego will meet for just the sixth time in program history. In the all-time series, the Beach lead the Tritons 5-0. When playing each other in Long Beach, Calif., LBSU leads UCSD, 1-0, as the Tritons are looking to earn their first-ever win over Long Beach State.

Player Notes
Ma'Qhi Berry has been an asset to the Beach all season long as she leads the team in assists (59), while adding 34 steals, 11 blocks, and 6.5 points per game. She is the conference leader in assists per game with 4.54, while ranking in the top three in assist/turnover ratio (1.37) and steals per game (2.62).
Malia Bambrick is the Beach's second leading scorer as she averages 12.3 points per game, while shooting 43.1 percent from the field. Bambrick ranks in the Top 10 in The Big West in both categories as her scoring average is good for ninth and her field goal percentage ranks her sixth in the league. On the year, Bambrick has recorded 12 double-digit scoring games and has led the Beach in scoring seven times. She recorded a career-high 21 points against La Sierra in November.
Savannah Tucker was a presence off the bench for LBSU in the first 14 games of the season as she contributed 3.5 points per game and 1.2 rebounds per game, to go along with 10 assists and eight steals. However, she is currently sidelined due to an injury.
Patricia Chung has seen action in each of the Beach's games this season, making an impact off the bench. On the year, Chung is averaging 2.8 points per game and 1.4 rebounds per game. She also adds 13 assists and eight steals. 
Kennan Ka is a freshman out of San Diego, Calif., who has come off the bench in each game this season for the Beach. Ka is averaging 1.9 points per game and 0.9 rebounds per game, and has totaled eight steals, and five assists thus far.
Kristyna Jeskeova is Long Beach State's leading rebounder this season as she averages 6.8 boards per game. She also leads the squad in steals (50) and blocks (15), while averaging 7.3 points per game. Jeskeova has been a key component to LBSU as she ranks in the Top 10 in The Big West in in three statistical categories. She is first in the league in steals per game (3.13), fifth in rebounding (6.8), and sixth in blocks per game (0.94). She has led the Beach in rebounds 11 times this season and has amassed double-figure boards four times.
Tori Harris is Long Beach State's leading scorer with 12.6 points per game on a team-best 46.5 field goal percentage. Harris also adds 4.0 rebounds per game to go along with 29 assists, 27 steals, and eight blocks. Her scoring average ranks her eighth in The Big West, while she comes in fourth in the league in field goal percentage. Harris is also seventh in the conference with 1.63 three-point field goals made per game. This season, she has led the Beach in scoring six times and has recorded 14 double-digit scoring games, while scoring 20-plus points on two separate occasions. 
Abby Shoff has come off the bench and seen action in 13 games this season. On the year, she is averaging 0.8 points per game and 0.8 rebounds per game, while adding two steals, one assist, and one block.
Lauren Green has played in all 16 of Long Beach State's games this season and has earned seven starts. During her time on the court, she has averaged 2.1 points per game and 1.4 rebounds per game, while adding eight assists, eight steals, and seven blocks.
Kianna Hamilton-Fisher is the Beach's third leading scorer with 10.1 points per game on a 40.5 field goal percentage. She also contributes 2.3 rebounds per game, while adding 42 assists, 34 steals, and 10 blocks. Hamilton-Fisher has recorded nine double-figure scoring games this season, while leading LBSU in scoring twice. 
Courtney Murphy, has been a key component for the Beach off the bench this season. Most recently, she tallied a season-high 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting at Cal Poly to bring her season average to 4.0 points per game. On the year, Murphy also averages 1.9 rebounds per game to go with 11 assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Davai Matthews made her Long Beach State debut coming off the bench against both Gonzaga and La Sierra. In 12 minutes of action thus far, Matthews has averaged 1.0 points per game and 1.0 rebounds per game.

Countdown to 1,000
Senior guard Ma'Qhi Berry has racked up 951 points throughout her Long Beach State career. As she closes in on the 1,000-point milestone, the Irvine, Texas native is looking to become the 27th player in Beach Women's Basketball history to reach 1,000 career points. 

Hot on the Court
Redshirt senior guard Courtney Murphy turned in a season-high 15 points against Cal Poly as she connected on 5-of-9 fielf goals to shoot 55.6 percent from the floor and lead the Beach to a 65-42 win in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Three of Murphy's field goals came behind the arc as she went 3-for-6 from long distance. She went on to finish the game at Cal Poly with season-highs in assists (2), steals (1), field goals made (5), three-point field goals made (3), free throws made (2), and points scored (15). With her solid showing, Murphy is now averaging 4.0 points per game and 1.9 rebounds per game, to go along with 11 assists, three blocks, and two steals on the year. 

VicTORIous
Tori Harris has been solid for Long Beach State all season as she is the team's leading scorer with 12.6 points per game. She has recorded two 20-point games this season, while recorded double-digits in 14-of-16 games. The redshirt senior has led LBSU in scoring on six separate occasions, while earning 12 starts on the year. Harris ranks in the Top 10 in The Big West in three categories as she comes in fourth in field goal percentage (46.5), seventh in three-point field goals made (1.63), and eighth in scoring (12.6 ppg).

Czech Her Out
Junior guard Kristyna Jeskeova has been a force on all sides of the ball this season for Long Beach State. The Czech Republic native is the team's leading rebounder (6.8 rpg) as she's recorded double-figure rebounding games four times this season and ranks fifth in The Big West in rebounding. She has also led the Beach in scoring twice, including a career-high 21-point performance against Southern Miss. On the year, Jeskeova is averaing 7.3 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game, while also adding a team-high 50 steals and 15 blocks. Jeskeova leads the conference in steals per game (3.13), while coming in sixth in blocks per game (0.94).

Berry Good
Ma'Qhi Berry is a redshirt senior guard in her fifth year at Long Beach State and is currenly leading the team in assists (59) as she averages 4.54 to lead The Big West. She has been an integral part of the LBSU starting five averaging 6.5 points per game, while adding 3.3 rebounds per game. She has led the Beach in assists in 10 games this season.

Bam!
Malia Bambrick has been on a roll since making her Long Beach State debut earlier this season. The senior guard who transfered to LBSU from Pepperdine is the Beach's second leading scorer as she averages 12.3 points per game. Her 43.1 field goal percentage is good for second on the team and sixth in The Big West. This season, she has led the Beach in scoring on seven separate occasions, while recording double-digits in 12 games so far. 

Ki Component
Redshirt junior guard Kianna Hamilton-Fisher turned in a career-performance against Tulsa at the USF Thanksgiving Classic. The Woodland Hills, Calif., native poured in a career-high 25 points as she led the Beach to a 64-45 victory over the Golden Hurricane. Hamilton-Fisher was hot from the start as she connected on 12-of-19 field goals, with one coming from behind the arc to lead the LBSU offensive attack. With her 25-point showing, Hamilton-Fisher becomes just the sixth player in the Jeff Cammon era to record a 25-point game at the Beach. On the year, Hamilton-Fisher is averaging 10.1 points per game to rank third on the team. She also adds 2.3 rebounds per game, as well as totaling 42 assists, 34 steals, and 10 blocks.

Perfection
Sophomore guard Savannah Tucker was perfect from the field last against La Sierra as the Fresno, Calif., native connected on 7-of-7 field goals for a perfect 100.0-percent shooting percentage. By not missing a field goal, Tucker became the first Long Beach State player since Jewelyn Sawyer went 5-for-5 in a 68-60 win at Pacific in 2015. Tucker would finish the game against the Golden Eagles with a total of 16 points as two of her field goals came from behind the arc. 

Next Up
Long Beach State welcomes Cal Poly to the Walter Pyramid for a game on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m., before traveling up to UC Davis on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a 2 p.m. contest. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
