Beach Women's Basketball Travels to Cal Poly, Hosts Hawaii this Week
Long Beach State's game at Cal Poly has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday due to flooding in the San Luis Obispo area. The Beach and the Mustangs will now tip-off on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Mott Athletic Center. Following their game up the central coast, LBSU will return to the Walter Pyramid to host Hawaii on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 3 p.m.

In the Rankings
Long Beach State has played two ranked teams this season so far in then-No. 18 Arizona in Tucson and then-No. 24 Baylor in Waco. The Beach suffered a pair of road losses to both the Wildcats and the Bears.
Earlier this season, LBSU opened the season against then-unranked Gonzaga and dropped an 80-54 decision on the road. However, since the season opener on November 10, the Bulldogs have moved into the national rankings coming in at No. 20 in the latest AP Poll.
In the Women's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, Gonzaga ranks No. 1, while UC Irvine comes in at No. 18. Meanwhile, Southern Miss, UC Santa Barbara, and San Francisco are receiving votes.
About the Beach
• Long Beach State comes into the week with a 7-7 overall record and a 2-2 ledger in Big West action.
• The Beach looking to bounce back after a pair of conference losses last week to CSUN (57-55) and UC Irvine (60-57).
• The Beach have been chosen to finish third in the Big West Preseason Coaches Poll with a total of 73 points. Long Beach was chosen to finish behind preseason favorite Hawaii, which earned 99 points and nine first-place votes, as well as UC Santa Barbara, which came in second with 84 points and two first place votes.
• As a team, Long Beach State is averaging 62.0 points per game for a scoring margin of +1.29 as their opponents are averaging 60.71 points per game.
• Offensively, the Beach are shooting 42.3 percent from the field, a mark that ranks them second in The Big West.
• This season, LBSU is averaging 28.79 rebounds per game, while adding 13.93 assists per game, 12.43 steals per game, and 3.29 blocks per game.

• Redshirt senior guard Ma'Qhi Berry has been a key component to Long Beach State's success as she leads the way with 52 assists, 30 steals and eight blocks. She also contributes 6.4 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. Berry leads the Big West in assists per game (4.73), while ranking third in steals per game (2.73) and assist/turnover ratio (1.41).
Scouting Cal Poly
• Cal Poly owns a 4-8 overall record and the Mustangs are 1-3 in Big West play.
• Their lone conference win came against CSU Bakersfield on Jan. 5, when the Mustangs defeated the Roadrunners, 50-37.
• As a team, Cal Poly is averaging 55.6 points per game and allowing 63.2 points per game for a scoring margin of -7.6.
• The Mustangs are shooting 37.3 percent from the field, while also contributing 32.6 rebounds, 11.1 assists, 6.6 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game on the year.
• Annika Shah is the Mustangs' leading scorer with 11.1 points per game. She also leads the team with 32 assists, while adding 2.0 rebounds per game, eight steals, and two blocks.

She has started in all 11 games she has appeared in and is shooting 49.2 percent from the field. A contributor on both sides of the ball, Berry also adds eight blocks on the year. She has not played since Dec. 29 at UC San Diego due to an injury.
• Malia Bambrick is utilizing her fifth year of eligibility at Long Beach State after having played four years at Pepperdine. Bambrick has been a key component to the Beach this season as she is the squad's second leading scorer with 12.5 points per game. • Savannah Tucker has come off the bench in all 14 of LBSU's games thus far and is averaging 3.5 points per game. • Patricia Chung has played in all 14 of the Beach's game this season coming off the bench and providing solid play. On the year, she is averaging 2.8 points per game and 1.4 rebounds per game, to go along with 13 assists, eight steals, and one block.
• Kennan Ka is a freshman out of San Diego, Calif., who has amassed 2.1 points per game and 0.9 rebounds per game in 14 games thus far. She also adds six steals and three assists.

• Abby Shoff has come off the bench and seen action in 12 games this season. On the year, she is averaging 0.8 points per game and 0.7 rebounds per game, while adding two steals and one assist.
• Lauren Green has played in all 14 Long Beach State games this season and has earned seven starts. During her time on the court, she has averaged 2.1 points per game and 1.4 rebounds per game, while adding seven assists, seven steals, and five blocks.

She has recorded two 20-point games this season, while recorded double-digits in 12-of-14 games. The redshirt senior has led LBSU in scoring on five separate occasions, while earning 10 starts on the year. Harris ranks in the Top 10 in The Big West in several categories as she comes in second in field goal percentage (49.6), seventh in scoring (12.6 ppg), eighth in made three-pointers (1.57), and 10th in steals per game (1.71).

Senior guard Ma'Qhi Berry has racked up 937 points throughout her Long Beach State career. As she closes in on the 1,000-point milestone, the Irvine, Texas native is looking to become the 27th player in Beach Women's Basketball history to reach 1,000 career points.
Czech Her Out
Junior guard Kristyna Jeskeova has been a force on all sides of the ball this season for Long Beach State. The Czech Republic native is the team's leading rebounder (6.9 rpg) as she's recorded double-figure rebounding games four times this season. She has also led the Beach in scoring twice, including a career-high 21-point performance against Southern Miss. On the year, Jeskeova is averaing 7.5 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game, while also adding a team-high 13 blocks. Jeskeova ranks second in the conference in steals per game (3.0), sixth in rebounding (6.9 rpg), and seventh in blocked shots per game (0.93).

Ma'Qhi Berry is a redshirt senior guard in her fifth year at Long Beach State and is currenly leading the team in assists (52) and steals (30). She has been an integral part of the LBSU starting five averaging 6.4 points per game, while adding 3.7 rebounds per game. She has led the Beach in assists in 10 games this season.

Malia Bambrick has been on a roll since making her Long Beach State debut earlier this season. The senior guard who transferred to LBSU from Pepperdine is the Beach's second leading scorer as she averages 12.5 points per game. Her 44.0 field goal percentage is good for second on the team and fifth in The Big West. This season, she has led the Beach in scoring on seven separate occasions, while recording double-digits in 10 games so far.

Malia Bambrick has been on a roll since making her Long Beach State debut earlier this season. The senior guard who transferred to LBSU from Pepperdine is the Beach's second leading scorer as she averages 12.5 points per game. Her 44.0 field goal percentage is good for second on the team and fifth in The Big West. This season, she has led the Beach in scoring on seven separate occasions, while recording double-digits in 10 games so far.

Long Beach State will take on Cal State Fullerton and UC San Diego next week. The Beach will take on the Titans in Fullerton, Calif., on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m., before hosting the Tritons on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid.
