The Beach will bid farewell to their nine graduates with a postgame ceremony.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will bid farewell to their time at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center on Friday, hosting No. 5 Stanford in what promises to be an exciting contest for senior night.
No. 6 Long Beach State (16-7) pushed No. 2 California to the limit in an overtime loss in their last game, and will take on No. 5 Stanford (19-2) for the first time this season. The Cardinal had reached No. 1 in the nation earlier in the season after opening with 17 straight wins, but recent losses to UCLA and more recently Princeton have seen Stanford drop to No. 5 in the polls.
The defending Golden Coast Conference Player of the Year, Rafael Real Vergara is once again leading from the front for Long Beach State with 51 goals on the year. Garrett Zaan, Matt Morris and Evan Can all have 30 or more goals for the Beach as well, as LBSU has gotten consistent scoring throughout the year. Long Beach State has won four of their last five games after going unbeaten at the Harvard Tournament on October 15-16.
Following the contest, Long Beach State will recognize their nine graduates, some of whom have the option to return due to COVID-19 eligibility relief but will have time to make that decision. The Beach will send off Aaron Arias, Andjrej Bosanac, Drake Charamuga, JJ Loubriel, Raul Morales, Matt Moris, Rafael Real Vergara, Santiago Riley and Garrett Zaan in their postgame senior ceremony.
The Beach will be on the remainder for the rest of, closing with three more GCC games as well as a trip to LMU before taking part in the Golden Coast Conference Tournament tin Santa Barbara from November 18 to November 20 along with a potential NCA postseason appearance.
