Men’s Water Polo Facing Two Challenges This Week Against UC San Diego and No. 2 UCLA

Long Beach State men’s water polo will visit UC San Diego on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then open its home schedule on Friday at 7 p.m. with a chance to knock off No. 2 UCLA.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State men's water polo team looks to bounce back from its loss against No. 3 Cal last weekend, facing UC San Diego (6-2) on the road on Wednesday. Things only get tougher from there as No. 6 Long Beach State will square off against No. 2 UCLA (11-0) in its home opener on Friday at 7 p.m.
UC San Diego is looking to upset No. 6 Long Beach bringing their win total against ranked opponents to 5. The Tritons recently defeated No. 10 Irvine and No. 8 Pepperdine. UCLA has won their last 5 matches by a total average of 6.8 goals with their closest margin of victory coming against No. 7 UC Santa Barbara by a tally of three goals. Not to mention, UCLA beat No. 10 Pepperdine over the weekend in a dominant 16-10 victory. Aside from the loss against Cal, No . 7 UC Santa Barbara had been the only other team to beat The Beach this season.
LBSU still holds a strong record of 6-2 on the season. Junior Austin Stewart found the back of the net twice over the weekend bringing his goal total to 18 goals which leads the Beach overall. Senior Chandler Kaltenbach has his goal total for the Beach at 13 goals while junior Johnathan Wong has 11 goals on the year.
