Long Beach State Wraps Women’s Competition At NCAA West Regional

Trinity Barnett competed in two sprint events as Beach women closed regional action Thursday.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Long Beach State completed women's competition Thursday at the NCAA West First Round hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Giszelle Hrehor competed in the women's hammer throw, finishing 34th overall with a mark of 56.81m (186-4) on her second attempt in flight two.
In the women's javelin, Rori Denness-Lamont was scheduled to compete in flight three but did not start the event due to injury.
The men's pole vault, which was postponed Wednesday due to weather, resumed this afternoon. VJ Vanderlipe got the opportunity to experience a competitive field of vaulters at the regional level for the Beach but failed to clear the opening height, 5.07m (16-7 ½), resulting in a non-placing finish.
Trinity Barnett represented Long Beach State in both the women's 100 and 200 meters.
In the 100 meters, Barnett finished fifth in heat five with a time of 11.53 and placed 28th overall, narrowly missing qualification to the quarterfinals by three spots.
Barnett later returned in the 200 meters, finishing sixth in heat three with a time of 23.77 to place 35th overall.
Long Beach State returns to action Friday with the men's 4x100-meter relay quarterfinals and the men's 400-meter hurdles quarterfinals.
