Long Beach State will send 15 athletes to the NCAA West First Round hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., May 27-30. The top 48 competitors in each event advanced to the regional meet, with the Beach represented across sprints, hurdles, relays, jumps and throws.

Barnett enters the meet after earning All-Conference honors in both the 100 and 200 meters at the Big West Championships. Flores and Sheron will represent the Beach in the men's 100 meters, while the men's 4x100 relay squad enters regional competition ranked No. 25 nationally with a school record time of 38.93.
Evans-Glynn also heads to Fayetteville ranked No. 27 nationally in the long jump after capturing the conference title with a mark of 7.83m (25-8 ¼).
In the field events, Denness-Lamont enters the regional ranked No. 21 nationally in the javelin with a mark of 176-9. The Beach will also be represented in the hammer throw by Hrehor, Goodloe and Knowles.
In the running events, there are six heats. The top three in each heat, plus the next six fastest times, advance to the quarterfinals. The top three finishers in each quarterfinal plus the next three fastest times advance to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
In the field events, the top 12 overall finishers advance to Eugene. There will be a jump-off in the pole vault and high jump if there is a tie for 12th place. In the discus, hammer, javelin, shot put and triple jump, the top 12 advance to nationals with no ties.
