Evans-Glynn Punches Ticket To Nationals On Opening Day Of NCAA West Regional

Steven Evans-Glynn advanced to nationals as Long Beach State opened NCAA Regional competition.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Long Beach State opened competition Wednesday at the NCAA West First Round hosted by the University of Arkansas, highlighted by Steven Evans-Glynn qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the men's long jump.
Evans-Glynn secured a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., after placing 10th in the long jump with a mark of 7.74m (25 feet, 4 ¾ inches). His qualifying mark came on his third attempt, earning one of the top-12 advancing spots to nationals.
In the hammer throw, Eman Goodloe finished 28th with a toss of 61.53m (201-10) on his second attempt in Flight 1, finishing three spots shy of qualifying for nationals. Tyler Knowles placed 38th overall with a mark of 58.81m (192-11) on his third attempt in Flight 2.
Jaylon Wells recorded a throw of 17.88m (58-5) in the shot put, finishing 28th overall and missing qualification by three spots.
Matthew Bender placed 33rd in the javelin with a mark of 60.79m (199-5), recorded on his third and final attempt.
The men's pole vault competition was postponed due to a weather delay and will resume Thursday at 12:40 p.m. PT.
Jaden Dasher advanced to Friday's quarterfinals in the 400-meter hurdles after placing 23rd overall with a time of 51.00 in Heat 5. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Friday at 5:25 p.m. PT.
In the men's 100 meters, Trey Sheron finished 28th overall with a time of 10.33 (10.321) in Heat 1, missing qualification by three spots. Tristyn Flores also ran 10.33 (10.322) in Heat 4, placing 29th overall and narrowly missing advancement by four positions.
The Long Beach State women begin competition Thursday morning with the women's hammer throw starting at 7:30 a.m. PT.
