Women’s Tennis Run Continues With Victory Over UC Davis

Long Beach State advances to the Big West Championship Semifinals with a 4-0 win over UC Davis.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Long Beach State jumped out to a big lead and closed out (8) UC Davis 4-0 to keep their run going at the Big West Championship on Friday.
Long Beach State (16-5) won the doubles point for the second day in a row. Daria Malaescu and Diana De Simone took the third flight first by a 6-2 score for the second straight day, this time against Claire Galerkin and Kaia Wolfe, while Johanna Hiesmair and Thea Jagare finished off the point with a 6-3 win in the second flight against UC Davis (11-13).
Cecilia Costa kept the momentum going with a dominant win in the second flight, rolling past Solia Valentine 6-1, 6-2 to give Long Beach State a second point in the match. Pamela Badillo followed with another straight sets win, 6-4, 6-3 against Daisy Maunapau.
The remaining matches went to three sets, but Malaescu closed out the win for Long Beach State, winning 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 against Polina Marakhtanova to pick up a second win at the Big West Championship.
Long Beach State will face the top seed, UC Santa Barbara as the tournament continues on Saturday, April 26. That match will start at 1 p.m. with live stats on www.beachlivestats.com.
