Long Beach State Celebrates Franco On Senior Day With 5-2 Win Over UC Irvine

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State closed out its home slate with a 5-2 win over UC Irvine on Senior Day at the Rhodes Tennis Center, celebrating the career of Paulina Franco while delivering a strong all-around performance to improve to 12-10 overall and 5-4 in Big West play.
The Beach set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Cecilia Costa and Paulina Franco teamed up for a 6-4 victory at the top spot, a fitting result on Franco's senior day. Pamela Badillo and Thea Jagare followed with a decisive 6-2 win at No. 2 to clinch the point, while the third doubles match was left unfinished with Daisy Carpenter and Diana De Simone leading 5-2.
In singles, Long Beach State won four of six courts to seal the team victory. Cecilia Costa delivered a clean performance at No. 2 with a straight-sets 6-4, 6-1 win, and Pamela Badillo controlled the deciding third set at No. 5, pulling away for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 victory.
Diana De Simone added another key point at the top of the lineup, grinding through a three-set battle to win 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
