Beach looks to rebound on the road Friday morning against the Matadors
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 69 Long Beach State continues Big West play this week with a road matchup at CSUN on Friday morning in Northridge. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. as the Beach looks to stabilize its position in the conference standings.
The Beach enters at 11-9 overall and 4-3 in Big West play, while CSUN sits at 11-6 overall and 2-3 in conference. With the standings tightly packed, this match carries clear postseason implications as teams begin to separate in the back half of league play.
Long Beach State is coming off a challenging stretch against two of the conference's top teams, falling 6-1 at Cal Poly and 6-1 at UC Santa Barbara. Those results highlighted the importance of early momentum, as the Beach split doubles against Cal Poly but dropped the point, and was unable to recover after conceding doubles at UCSB.
CSUN has been strong at home and typically plays a physical, extended-match style that forces opponents to win late in sets.
With both teams close in conference standings, Friday's match presents an opportunity for Long Beach State to regain momentum and reassert itself in the Big West race.
