Long Beach State won the doubles point and the first five singles matches on the way to the win.
FULLERTON, Calif. – Long Beach State went on the road and picked up an important league win, 6-1 at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
"We put in a lot of extra work this week and it really showed today," said head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "This was a strong road win for us."
Cal State Fullerton (8-5, 2-2 Big West) would open the dual with the first win, a 6-3 victory in the top flight of doubles, but Long Beach State (11-4, 3-3 Big West) quickly rallied back, taking the doubles point and controlling the action the rest of the way.
The relatively new pairing of Thea Jagare and Johanna Hiesmair grabbed another win on the week, defeating Marilia Nikitash and Diana Yanotovskaya 6-4, and Paulina Franco Martinessi and Diana De Simone took the point with a 6-4 win over Kaytlin Taylor and Seha Yu.
The Beach had a pair of dominating wins to quickly come close to sealing the win. Pamela Badillo was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Milena Gevorgyan and Jagare cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Yanotovskaya to put LBSU in front 3-0 in the match. Ceclia Costa then clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the second flight against Yu.
