SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Coming off an 18-4 victory at San Jose State Tuesday night, Cal Poly is 10-6. The Mustangs swept Cal State Fullerton last weekend at home, outscoring the Titans 31-21 in the series.
Long Beach State transfer Jack Collins leads Cal Poly in hitting (.394), slugging (.719), home runs (4), and RBI (24). Long Beach State. A catcher, he has not committed an error in 133 chances this season.
Cal Poly's probable Friday starter is Griffin Naess. In four starts this season, he has gone 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA and struck out 20 in 20.1 innings.
On Saturday, Cal Poly is scheduled to throw Josh Volmerding, who is lefty. Volmerding is 1-1 with a 9.33 ERA in five starts in 2025. He has posted 16 strikeouts in 18.1 innings.
The Mustangs are scheduled to send Ethan Marmie to the bump on Sunday. He is 2-1 in four starts with a 4.61 ERA. He has struck out 18 in a team-high 27.1 innings this season.
