Opening Day For Softball Cut Short Due To Rain In Stanford

Long Beach State holds a 5-0 lead in the first inning over Pacific.
STANFORD, Calif. – Long Beach State got off to a quick start, but rain in Stanford halted the action, postponing both games scheduled for LBSU Softball on the opening day of the 2025 season.
Long Beach State began the season by batting around in the top of the first inning against Pacific. Jacquelyn Bickar walked to open the game, and quickly stole second as her chase for the school record resumed in her senior season. Corissa Sweet was hit by a pitch and Rebekah Durazo walked, loading the bases with one out. A walk to freshman Lina Apodaca followed by a wild pitch scored two.
Freshman Priscilla Iniguez singled in her first collegiate at-bat, bringing home a third run in the inning. A bases-loaded walk to Avery Weisbrook made it 4-0, and a Selena Perez sac fly put the Beach up 5-0 before the team had taken the field in 2025.
In the bottom of the first inning, however, rains came that would ultimately wash out the remainder of the action from Stanford Stadium on Thursday.
Long Beach State and Pacific were scheduled to play again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning; Thursday's game will resume from the bottom of the first at that time. The hosts and Long Beach State are working on arrangements to reschedule the originally scheduled game for 4:30 today against the Cardinal.
