THE KICKOFF
After a 12-day layoff, Long Beach State returns to the pitch this week with a pair of home matches.
 
LBSU hosts Cornell Friday at 7 p.m. before opening Big West action Sunday at 5 p.m. when Long Beach State welcomes UC Riverside to George Allen Field.
 
Before the Cornell match, LBSU will honor its 2024 senior class, Kassandra Ceja, Makayla Demelo, Summer Laskey, Zora Standifer, and Bella Ternero.

SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell travels to Long Beach with a 1-2-4 record after playing Villanova to a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon.

Laken Gallman scored three of the Big Red's eight goals this season. She also leads the team in points with seven. Tanum Nelson scored a goal and has one assist with a team-high 20 shots.
 
Natalie Medugno has played every minute in goal for Cornell this season. She has made 23 saves and recorded a 1.57 goals-against average.
 
AGAINST THE OPPONENT
Long Beach State and Cornell are playing women's soccer for the first time this week.
 
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
UC Riverside opens the week with a 2-6 mark before the Highlanders close non-conference play Friday night against Saint Mary's at home.
 
UCR has scored two goals this season, one by Mimi Dominguez and one by Nikki Velasco. No Highlanders player has recorded an assist.
 
Alle Grashoff has played every minute in between the pipes for UC Riverside. She is 31st in Division I and third in the Big West in saves with 42. She is 49th in D-1 in saves per game (5.25).
 
AGAINST THE OPPONENT
Long Beach State leads the all-time series against UC Riverside 11-6-7.
 
WILLIS MINUTES
Zoe Willis has been a strong force on defense for Long Beach State this season. With Willis at the forefront, LBSU is allowing 1.71 goals per game. Dating back to the Oct 8, 2023, match against CSUN, Willis has played 1,190 consecutive minutes over the 13 contests. She is the lone Long Beach State field player to play every minute of the 2024 season.
