Long Beach State opens Big West play with a three-game series at UC Santa Barbara this weekend.

Friday's game begins at 4:35 p.m., with Saturday's action getting underway at 3:05 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.

SCOUTING THE GAUCHOS
UC Santa Barbara is 9-5 after sweeping UConn last weekend in Santa Barbara in the Gauchos' first home series of the year. UCSB's Tuesday game against UNLV was canceled.

Jessada Brown leads the team in hitting at .409. Zander Darby has posted a team-high four home runs, while Nick Oakley has posted a club-best 17 RBI.

Matt Ager is Friday's probable starter. The junior righty is 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA. He has struck out 21 in 20.2 innings.

Senior lefty Mike Gutierrez is scheduled to go on Saturday. He is 2-0 with a 2.86 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched. Redshirt sophomore Ryan Gallagher is Sunday's scheduled starter. He is 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 15.2 innings.

AGAINST THE OPPONENT
Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara are playing for the 204th, 205th, and 206th times, with the Dirtbags leading the all-time series 106-97.

Long Beach State won 2-of-3 last season in Long Beach.
