LONG BEACH, Calif. – Sydney Woodley was on fire as she led Long Beach State to an 86-62 victory over CSUN on Saturday at the Walter Pyramid.

The junior guard had a career night as she poured in 21 points to set a new standard for herself, while adding seven rebounds, six steals, and two assists to lead Long Beach State (10-14, 5-9 Big West). Woodley shot 69.2 percent (9-13) from the field and 75.0 percent (3-4) from long distance en route to recording her 11th double-figure scoring game of the year.

Woodley wasted no time getting the Beach on the board as she started the game with a layup five seconds in to put LBSU on top of CSUN (2-23, 0-15 Big West), 2-0. By the media timeout at 4:59, Long Beach State held a 10-6 edge over the Matadors. Lovely Sonnier's triple at 4:33 capped a 5-0 LBSU run coming out of the break as the Beach led 13-6, before taking a 21-14 advantage into the second quarter.

Long Beach State started the second quarter with five-straight points to extend its lead to 12 (26-14) at 7:49. CSUN chipped away and made it a five-point game (35-30) by 1:40 on the clock. Long Beach State held a nine-point lead (36-37) over the Matadors at halftime.

The Beach regained their double-figure lead in the third quarter after Woodley hit a three at 8:38 putting LBSU up 39-29. Back-to-back three-pointers from Casey Valenti-Paea and Woodley pushed the Beach's lead up to 16 (47-31) at 6:38. LBSU went on its longest run of the game in the third quarter when the Beach strung together 10-straight points to open up a 25-point lead (60-35) at 4:13. Despite the large deficit, CSUN battled back and scored 11 consecutive points to close the gap 60-46 with just 1:13 remaining in the frame. LBSU took a 65-49 lead into the fourth quarter after a layup at the buzzer by Savannah Tucker.

LBSU went on a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to take its largest lead (79-51) of the game. During that run that put the Beach up by 28, Patricia Chung scored all 12 points on four-straight threes. With the game out of reach for the Matadors, Long Beach State rolled to an 86-62 win.

Coming in behind Woodley for the Beach were Tucker (15 points), Valenti-Paea (14 points), and Chung (12 points). Freshman Jada Crawshaw added six points to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds.
