LONG BEACH, Calif. – Patricia Chung and Jada Crawshaw both hit new career-highs to help lift Long Beach State to a 70-57 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday night at the Gold Mine.

The Beach (8-12, 3-7 Big West) took an early lead and never looked back and they out-shot the Roadrunners (6-13, 3-7 Big West) 47.7 percent to 36.8 percent from the field. Long Beach State held the advantage in rebounding (46-29), assists (18-9), steals (8-7), and blocks (3-2). Additionally the Beach capitalized on the Roadrunners' 14 turnovers scoring 20 points of CSUB miscues.

Chung led all scorers with 24 points as she made 10-of-15 field goals and drained 4-of-6 three-point attempts. She also led the Beach in assists with five, while adding four rebounds, and two steals.

Crawshaw recorded her second double-double of the season as she recorded a career-best 15 points and 12 rebounds. She also contributed two assists and one block in the game.

Cheyenne Givens and Savannah Tucker rounded out LBSU's double-figure scorers. Givens tallied 12 points to go along with five boards, two assist, and one steal. Tucker, meanwhile, concluded the game with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.

The Beach went on an early 9-0 run to take an 11-3 lead over the Roadrunners by 5:20. Long Beach State added to its lead with another six-straight points to go up 17-5 by 3:14. However, Cal State Bakersfield used a 9-0 run of its own to close the gap and make it a three-point game (17-14) with just 50 seconds remaining in the period. Chung extended the Beach's lead back up to eight (22-14) at the end of the quarter after hitting a three with 31 seconds on the clock and sinking second-chance layup at the buzzer.

The second quarter saw the Beach break the game wide open. Long Beach State shot 64.7 percent from the field and utilized a 16-0 run to jump out in front 46-22. The Beach led the Roadrunners by as many as 24 points in the frame and cruised to a 46-26 lead at halftime.

By halftime, Chung had already amassed 17 points to set a new career-high for herself. Meanwhile, Crawshaw had notched 12 points to tie her previous career-best.

Cal State Bakersfield began chipping away at Long Beach State's lead in the third quarter. The Roadrunners would cut the Beach's lead down to 13 (58-45), but would not come any closer. LBSU closed the frame on a 7-0 run jumpstarted by a trey from Chung en route to leading 65-45 at the end of the third quarter.

Bakersfield outscored Long Beach 12-5 in the fourth quarter as the Beach were held to just 13.3 percent shooting from the field. The Roadrunners managed to make it a 12-point game (69-57) with 4:52 remaining, but the Beach's large lead from the first half was enough to sustain them as Long Beach took the game, 70-57.

Jordan Olivares and Shaunae Brown led the Roadrunners with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Olivares also led the team with seven rebounds.

Long Beach State will face UC San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. on the road. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
