Track and Field Heads to Fullerton for Ben Brown Invitational

Long Beach State will have 35 student-athletes see competition on both Friday and Saturday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State track and field team will spend their second outdoor meet in Fullerton as they compete in the Ben Brown Invitational this weekend. The two-day meet begins at 12 p.m. on Friday and then at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Last weekend, the outdoor season kicked off with the Beach Opener. Highlighting a tremendous weekend for LBSU was seven individual event winners and six new program top ten marks. Three of the winners came out of the distance group, while two came from the throwers, one jumper, and the seventh was a win in the 4x100m Relay.
Highlighting the weekend was a duo of newcomers in Cristian Martinez and TJ Wiggins as they swept the Big West Men's weekly honors on Monday. Martinez was named the Track Athlete of the Week after winning the men's 1500m race and finishing runner-up in the 800m, while Wiggins was named the Field Athlete of the Week after a dominant showing in the men's Discus Throw.
Looking at the Ben Brown Invitational, Long Beach State will face a lot of their conference opponents with CSU Bakersfield, Hawai'i, UC Riverside, and the host Titans all competing this weekend. The Beach is set to have 35 student-athletes compete on both Friday and Saturday.
Friday's events begin at 12 p.m. with the men's Long Jump and will go well into the night with the women's 10,000m representing the final event, starting at 9:15 p.m.
Tickets are available starting at $5 general admission and parking costing $10 until Friday at 5 pm.
