Women’s Soccer Set for Two More Home Matches, Hosting Fresno State and San Diego

This week’s home matchups will end the season opening six-game home stand for the Beach.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State is set to host two more home matches at George Allen Field this week. On Thursday, they will take on Fresno State and close out their season opening home stretch with San Diego on Sunday.

ABOUT LAST WEEK
• Long Beach State finished week two of the 2022 season with a 2-2 draw against San Diego State and a 5-1 loss against Washington.
• In the match against the Aztecs, the Beach held a two-goal lead after goals from Summer Laskey and Felicia Jastre Hogberg. But after 82 minutes of shutdown defense, SDSU ended the shutout and tied the game on a pair of goals in the final eight minutes to force the tite.
• Washington was overpowering in a very physical match on Sunday taking down the Beach 5-1. Lena Silano scored the lone LBSU goal, her second of the season.
STAT BREAKDOWN
• The Beach has 5 goals through four games, coming from four different players. Silano leads the way with a pair of goals while Perez, Laskey, and Hogberg each have one each.

• After playing #15 USC in week one, the Beach have one more match against a current Top 25 team (Pepperdine) as of the the week three rankings, and two others receiving votes (Washington, UC Irvine). Including those teams, they will play six teams that posted a .600 win percentage in 2021 and five that made the NCAA Postseason.
PRESEASON NATIONAL HONORS
• After a historic 2021 campaign, Lena Silano has been named to United Soccer Coaches' preseason forwards watch list. She is one of just 41 athletes selected and one of just two from the Big West Conference.
• Felicia Jastre Hogberg is also garnering national attention earning a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's Preseason Freshman Best XI. The list acknowledges the best athletes at each position making her a top three freshman forward in the country.
PICKING UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
• After a historic 2021, Lena Silano has continued to lead the Beach to start the 2022 season. With two goals and an assist through the first four matches, she owns a team-high five points thus far. This past week, she registered an assist against SDSU and a goal against Washington.
• The Aguora HIlls owns 15 shots to lead the Big West Conference and her two goals is tied for the conference lead. Her five total points ranks second in the league.
FELICIA'S FIRST
• Already tabbed as one of the top freshmen in the country, Felicia Jastre Hogberg has made her presence known early in her debut season. In week one against Pacific, she notched her first career assist (and first career point). This past week, she notched her first collegiate goal with a beautiful finish against San Diego State.
• She currently leads the Big West with 7 shots on goal, averaging 1.75 per game. Her 12 total shots is tied for second most and her 3 total points is tied for sixth most.
THE RETURN OF ACE
• Captain Elysia Laramie was a 2018 All-Big West Freshman honoree and a 2019 All-Big West First Team selection before suffering a torn ACL prior to the 2021 season. Between the 2020 season being cancelled and recovering from her injury, she has returned to the pitch for the first time in nearly three years.
• Through four matches thus far, she leads the team in minutes played spending all 360 minutes of the season on the LBSU back line.
GET EVERYONE INVOLVED
• Last year, the Beach totaled 58 points on the season and had just 10 different student-athletes record at least one point. Through four matches to start 2022, they have already had six different players register a point.
• Lena Silano leads the way with five, while Felicia Jastre Hogberg and Summer Laskey are tied for second with three. Maddy Perez owns two points with Sophie Jones and Alyssa Reyes notched their first points of the season this past week.
THE NEW RECRUITS
• This year's recruiting class is one catching national attention, ranking #32 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. The group includes one forward, four midfielders, and three defenders.
• Cherrie Cox is the headliner of the eight, coming from West Torrance HS. The midfielder is considered a five-star recruit and is coming off back-to-back seasons where she set the record for most goals at her high school.
• Along with Cox in the midfield are Julia Moore, Nani Kia'aina, and a transfer from the University of Arizona, Tianna Sidtikun. Moore garnered some hardware in high school, winning the 2022-23 Player of the Year as well as the SCCAL Midfielder of the Year.
• The defenders in the class are Japan product Kana Uchida, Litzy Morales, and Taylor Freitas. Uchida (Japan) and Morales (Mexico) bring high-level experience to the Beach with both spending multiple years with their respective national teams.
• The lone forward is another international recruit, Felicia Jastré Högberg from Sweden. In two years with division two IFK Fjaras, she scored 36 goals in 22 games, including a career-day with six goals in one game.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
• Fresno State enters week three of the season with an 0-3 record. Their losses have come against Washington, Seattle, and Oregon State, all of which scored multiple goals against the Bulldogs.
• The Bulldogs have only scored one goal through their first three matches totaling 15 shots. Kassandra Ceja was the goal scorer and leads the team with 4 shots thus far.
• Defensively, they have allowed seven goals on 50 total shots. Their keepers have 12 saves, led by 10 from Ella Wilson. Their two goalies combined own a .632 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS
• San Diego is 1-3 through the first two weeks of the season with their lone win coming against Big West foe CSU Bakersfield last week. Their losses came against Denver, Colorado, and LSU.
• The Toreros have four goals through those four matches totaling 29 shots and 10 on target. Cameryn Maddox leads the team with two goals and an assist for five total points while taking eight shots. Sara Evans and Lexi Nobles own the other two goals.
• Defensively, they have allowed 11 goals on 58 shots with a .517 SOG percentage. Sophine Kevorkian owns the bulk of the time in net and has allowed 10 of the 11 goals. She has also registered 13 saves, good for a .565 save percentage.
