Long Beach State finished with 16 assists and went 18-of-19 from the free throw line.
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Freshman Jadon Jones scored 17 second-half points on the way to finishing with 25 points, as Long Beach State extended their winning streak to 11 games with a 72-59 road victory at CSUN.
CSUN (7-17, 3-8 Big West) held even early with Long Beach State (15-9, 10-1 Big West) who were adjusting without the services of big men Joe Hampton and Jordan Roberts. Sophomore Romelle Mansel got the start and led a balanced rebounding effort for the Beach with six, helping steady the Beach.
The Matadors would lead by four with just over eight minutes to play in the first half, but closed the half on a 17-2 run to seize control of the game.
Leading by 11 at the break, Jones started to heat up, hitting threes on back-to-back possessions to push the lead to 18 points as the game ticked under the 10 minute mark, and Eddie Scott pushed the lead to 20 points at 63-43, the largest lead of the game.
CSUN would bring the edge back to 12 points, but got no closer as Long Beach State finished off the win, their first since 2018 in the Matadome.
Jones led the way offensively for Long Beach State, hitting four 3-pointers and finishing the game 9-of-13 from the floor. Joel Murray finished with 18, going 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Long Beach State shared the ball well, finishing with 16 assists, their third-most on the season as well.
Long Beach State will stay on the road as the program tries to match its longest winning streak since the 2011-12 season. LBSU will face off against UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. on Saturday night, with live coverage on ESPN+.
