The International prospect will be making his Division I debut with the Beach after transferring from Pitt.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Men's Basketball has announced that Australian standout Henry Lau will be coming to Long Beach State to compete in 2026-27 after spending last season with Pittsburgh.
Henry Lau | Forward | 6-7, 195 | Sydney, Australia
Lau was a top international recruit coming out of high school, ultimately committing with Pittsburgh where he redshirted last season, his first in the states. Lau spent the 2024-25 season as a developmental player with the Sydney Kings of the Australian NBL and averaged 15.0 points per game and 1.4 blocks per game at the U20 Australian National Championships for New South Wales. As a senior at Sydney Boys High, Lau was the Sydney High School Player of the Year after averaging 28.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocks per game.
Acker on Lau:
"Henry brings a unique combination of professional experience, toughness, and versatility to our roster. Competing professionally in Australia at a young age and having success at that level has helped shape his maturity and understanding of the game. Prior to Pittsburgh, Henry was regarded as one of the top recruits to come out of Sydney, and although he redshirted this past season due to a hand injury, he was expected to contribute before the injury occurred. We're excited to get a healthy and motivated player who is hungry to compete. What stands out most about Henry is his versatility and competitive nature. He can impact the game in multiple ways and brings a level of physicality and experience that will be important for our team this season."
Lau is the last Division I transfer who will be joining the roster as the group begins to finalize. Lau joins Yohann Sissoko of Florida Atlantic, Jack Payne of Idaho, Kaleb Smith of Grand Canyon, Noah Amenhauser of Oregon State and Grgur Brcic of Bucknell as new Division I transfers on the 2026-27 roster for Long Beach State.
