LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Basketball once again has prioritized experience in their final signing, bringing in JJ Gray from Oberlin College to round out the roster.
JJ Gray | Guard | 6-7, 195 | Fountain Valley, Calif.
Gray starred for three seasons at Division III Oberlin College, leading the team in scoring in each of his three seasons. He ended his career through three seasons as a 1,000 point scorer, averaging 14.9 points per game as a junior after shooting 38 percent from three. Averaging over 15 points per game over his career, Gray is returning to Southern California, where he played high school basketball with Fountain Valley High School.
Acker on Gray:
"Bringing JJ closer to home adds someone who understands the local community and values the opportunity to represent the region. His work ethic, character, and commitment to those around him make him a strong addition to our culture and a positive influence within our program and the Long Beach community."
Gray's addition brings the total roster number to 15 for the 2026-27 season. That includes two returning players, two high school recruits, six Division I transfers, and five from other levels to round out a squad with tons of veteran leadership and experience.
