RENO –
Long Beach State used a 10-0 run to open the game and never looked back as the Beach defeated Nevada, 68-57, on Thursday at Lawlor Events Center.

The Beach (4-3) shot a season-high 55.8-percent from the field, while the Wolfpack (3-5) connected on 22-of-51 field goals for a 43.1-percent showing. LBSU led Nevada in assists (16-14), steals (17-7), and blocks (5-2), while forcing the Wolfpack into 28 turnovers. Nevada, meanwhile, held the edge in rebounding, 34-19.

In their best offensive effort of the season, the Beach were led by five double-figure scorers as Malia Bambrick led the way with 18 points as she sunk 8-of-13 field goals. Kristyna Jeskeova turned in a career-best 14-point performance as she went 6-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from long distance. Also reaching double-digits were Kianna Hamilton-Fisher (11 points), Ma'Qhi Berry (10 points), and Tori Harris (10 points).

Jeskeova also led the Beach with five rebounds to go along with four steals. Berry's six steals and six assists led Long Beach, while she added a pair of rebounds.

The Beach started off hot as they opened the game with 10-straight points. The LBSU defense was solid as they held the Wolfpack scoreless for the first 6:34 of the game. However, once Nevada got on the board, they surged ahead. The Wolfpack used a 12-0 run to cut Long Beach's lead down to one (17-16) heading into the second quarter.

Nevada tied the game twice in the second quarter at 19-19 and 21-21, but that was all the Beach would allow. Jeskeova and Bambrick drained back-to-back threes to put LBSU back on top, 27-21. Long Beach State broke the game open with a 10-point lead (33-23) after a layup from Jeskeova. The Beach would hold a 33-27 lead at halftime.

Long Beach State took its largest lead in the third quarter as the Beach used another 10-0 run to take a commanding 19-point lead (50-31) over Nevada. During that run, Harris contributed six points to lead the Beach. In the frame, LSBU outscored Nevada 21-11 and held a 54-38 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

The Wolfpack turned in its best showing in the final 10-minutes of action as they shot 60.0-percent from the field (6-for-10) and outscored Long Beach State 19-14. However, the Beach's commanding lead and 50,0-percent shooting (8-for-16) in the fourth quarter was too much for Nevada to overcome as Long Beach State held off the Wolfpack, 68-57.

Nevada was led by Gabby Rones and Alyssa Jimenez who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. Lexie Givens added eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the Wolfpack.

Long Beach State will be back in action next week when they host the Beach Classic at the Walter Pyramid on Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17. The Beach will play Dartmouth on Friday at 3:30 p.m., before closing the tournament against Southern Miss on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Both LBSU games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
