Long Beach State Splits Contests Against Pacific And UC Davis To Open Cal Cup Play

Berkeley, Calif. — Long Beach State split its contests to start Cal Cup play on Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
The Beach (3-1) started the morning with a 10-9 victory against Pacific.
Anne de Kleer scored a team-high four goals as the Beach rallied after trailing 7-5 with three minutes remaining in the third period.
After a timeout, the Beach went on a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 lead.
Gabriella Matafora-Adams dished out three assists and Inbar Geva had nine saves.
To finish the day, the Beach was unable to overcome a cold shooting percentage as the Beach went 5-for-30 on shot attempts as they lost 14-5 to UC Davis.
Orsi Hertzka led the way with three goals. The Beach had 11 power plays, but were only able to convert on two of those advantages.
The Beach will be back in action on Sunday when they take on No. 4 Cal and No. 8 Fresno State at 9:45 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
